Bottle from Sainsbury’s, Warrington. Deep gold in colour with a tight white head and slight carbonation. Sweetish malt aroma, with a suggestion of peppery hop. Flavour had more of the same sweet malts, with a touch of fruitiness, some tired hops and a short, bitter finish. Lacking in character.

Lovely gold colour with a thin but long lasting white head. Looks great. Soft gentle malted nose, smooth and slightly hoppy, good balanced brew. Not quite Budvar or Urquell, but much better than the majority of British "lagers"

Bottle from Tesco - labelled Liverpool 2008. Gold with white, rapidly thinning head. Slight sweetish malt aroma with token hop presence almost as an afterthought. Pretty much lacking in any definable flavour characteristics. Usual crisp palate but unforgivably dull.

Bottle, thx to Tarjei. (as Liverpool 2008 lager) A clear, golden beer with a small white head. The aroma has a malty background, with nice fruity hops up front, and with a grainy touch. Malty flavor too, with nice fruity and grassy hops. A bit grainy though, and a little low on bitterness, but what can one expect from a pale lager. Medium body, quite dry. Bitter finish with some grain and fruityness. Refreshing and quite uninteresting beer. Sure acceptable for a pale lager though. (080731)

Bottled, as ’Liverpool 2008’ .Sweet grassy hay and faint herbal hop aroma. Malt-driven sweetness and moderate fullness of body, with a nibble of pilsy bitterness to finish. Tasty lager, dull beer.

Bottled as 2008 Liverpool City of Culture Lager, 500ml from Morrisons in Southport. Gold with carbonated head. Pretty standard, low flavoured, slightly tinny UK Lager. Malty, smooth but without interesting by notes. Pretty average but ok chilled at Derricks Barbeque.

500ml bottle from Morrisons, Banbury, Oxon, consumed 01-06-08 Pours gold with med’ carbonation and white quickly fading head. Malty and grainy and also a touch on the sweet side but far better than I expected, in fact chilled in the garden it was actually not bad.
