Comments: Cask-conditioned and it rarely works well for lagers. No exception here. Unfocused palate, almost creamy and malt-focused.

Cask at ’Spoons, Milton Keynes. Gold with a small white head. Odd malty raisin aroma, Sweet taste with a little fruity sourness and a hint of bitterness to finish. Unusual, but more enjoyable than most lagers.

A Mes rate: Cask at Baker Street ’Spoons. Standard blonde looks with a pretty poor film of little bubbles. Slight diacetyl in the aroma but it’s jst about hidden by some mellow hoppage. Not too great in the flavour department. Raspberry, dusty tobacco and something distinctly rice pudding about it. Very soapy note makes me wince when I drink it. Dusty finish just about saves the day. Not great.
