(draught) pours a darkest clear ruby-brown colour with a creamy beige head. aroma of light honey and herbal hops, white grapes, powdered sugar and light tobacco. flavour is hazelnuts and caramel, slightly tart, with strawberries and caramel in the light toasted-bitter finish. light to medium-bodied with soft carbonation. strange stuff.

A really unpleasant sharp aftertaste made me wonder whether it had gone vinegary which it couldnt have at the Lorship Bennington which really looks after its beer well. The landord agreedf that it had a grapefruity flavour. Itís meant to be beer, bugger it, not some slimmerís health drink

Cask @ Doctor Duncans, Liverpool. Aroma is like damp wood. Itís disappointingly thin and watery and the flavour is not nice. Itís like apple pips and wood. Really awful lingering aftertaste.

[Cask at the Bootlegger, High Wycombe] Bronze-black with no head. Sweet fruit and caramel up front with a decent earthy bitterness to finish. Rather enjoyed it.

Cask by handpump at State Bar, Glasgow - clear dark red ale, non-existent white head, no detectable aroma, good temperature, very mild caramel malt, watery, bland
