COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Seasonal - August.
A light, refreshing golden ale, with an abundance of citrus flavour, named in honour of the famous mythical birds which stand sentinel over the River Mersey and City of Liverpool, this refreshing golden ale celebrates the strong historical ties between Liverpool and the USA, deriving it’s unique light citrus flavour through dry hopping with American Cascade and Liberty hops.

On cask (handpump) at Great British Beer Festival, day 3 on 6 August 2009. Amber colour. Fairly clean and dry. Despite the colour, this comes across more like a traditional bitter - I’d hope for rather more assertive, zesty hop presence in a good golden ale. I can’t imagine the American hops were used in very generous quantities. Nothing out of the ordinary here. Respectable but not exactly exciting.

Cask at GBBF 2009. No sparkler. Gold, no head. It’s ok, some toffee, touch of hop. It’s not exactly interesting, dullish bitter. Some bitterness on finish but ultimately a little under done.

Gravicask, one-third pint from the Cains bar, GBBF 09. Nitro creamy, white head. Golden body with a slight haze. Lighter aroma of fruity hops. Rounded taste of sweet malts, raisin and a yeasty bitter ending. Rather thin in the mouth (London, 05.08.2009).

Cask@GBBF2009. Ambery golden colour with small beige head. Aroma is wood, caramel, spices and quite strong on both fruity and floral hops. Flavour is fruits, wood, some mild honey. Refreshing and quite pleasant.
