half @ the rake. Sweet medicinal nose with notes of gooseberry, nettle and a bit of chlorine. Dark mahogany in colour, not really any head. Sweet caramel and treacle in flavour. Watery palate, with a strange liquorice bitter aftertaste.

Cask (handpump) @ The National Winter Ales Festival 2008, Manchester, UK. Clear dark brown color with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate malty, mild chocolate, sugar, vanilla, black currant. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is flat. (170108)

Cask (Gallows Bird, Espoo, Real Ale Festival 2006) Black, thin head. Classic stout aroma - malt, chocolate, dark fruits. Taste follows suit. Chocolatey and spicey. Superb stout, amazing what they can do at 4.4%

On draught at the Halfway House: Literally black, small foamy layer, caramelly, fruity nose with traces of Port and almonds, a bit like a liquid X-mas cake; medium-bodied, smooth MF, moderate sweet-bitter flavour; long-lasting sweet finish, that becomes later more bitter and roastmalty. Yeah, a fine brew......

Half pint at the Great British Beer Festival, black with a beige bubbly head. A light roasted malt aroma. A sweet but sour malt flavour, a little yeasty. Too sweet I think!
