3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 WesKBob (563) - Bethany, Oklahoma, USA - MAY 17, 2013
Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy bright reddish-amber color. Good off-white head with good retention. Aroma is roast malt, caramel, and dried fruit. Flavor is sweet malt, butterscotch, raisin and grassy hops. Medium bodied and lightly carbonated. Smooth-drinking, but not something I would seek out on a regular basis.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 esp0r (1324) - NORWAY - MAY 9, 2013
Bottle from Meny Manglerud enjoyed at home
Dark red, big tanned head. Smells of dark fruits, malts, caramel, spice and hops. Taste is moderate sweet, malty, some dark fruits. Medium bitter with earthy hops. Nice malty base; ok hopped, maybe a hint more aroma hops would do? This of course minor details. A very nice and drinkable bitter
2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 LarsEngen (296) - Sandvika, NORWAY - APR 25, 2013
50 cl bottle from Meny Kolsås. Pours a clear copper brown with a small white head. Nose is caramel, butterscotch with some notes of thiestle. Somewhat strange aroma. Taste is caramel and some herbal/grassy notes. Soft carbonation, medium body, medium bitterness. Just an average bitter with a small twist.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Oysteib (67) - NORWAY - APR 23, 2013
From bottle. Clear, copper colour. Fascinatingly complex herbal aromas. Reminiscent of a much darker beer, burnt aromas. Malt sweetness balances the bitterness well. Has a lot to offer. Recommended.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Foffern (772) - Bodø, NORWAY - APR 9, 2013
Bottle shared with ClubGonzo and Veitafan. Have a dark golden amber colour with a small light tan head. The aroma is dominated by sweet malt, sweet cake, vanilla cookies, anise and a little caramel. The taste is a little more careful with a touch of leather and wood, and a little caramel, spices, hops and anise. Mouth feel is easy and smooth and, has a light bitterness. An interesting and easy to drink beer, and is decent enough.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Arve_Christian (2155) - Oslo, NORWAY - APR 1, 2013

2.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Palme (2311) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAR 24, 2013
0.5l bottle. This is a crystal clear brown-ish beer with a medium sized big-bubbly light beige top. Smells of bitter and sweet caramel, nougat and traces of nutty chocolate paper. It’s somewhat averagely carbonated and the mouthfeel is thin oily. Dry-bitter nutty flavors. I get some dark caramel and some herbal nuances. I’m having a hard time really enjoying this, but it still manages to not be to bad tasting. Absolutely not something I will be hunting down again though. 15.02.2013
2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 ClubGonzo (2762) - Bergen, NORWAY - MAR 19, 2013
Bottle from Lerøy Mat, Bergen, shared with Foffern and Veitafan. Pours a deep clear copper brown body with a small white head. Nose is caramel, biscuity butterscotch tones (could be diacetyl, but it’s hard to be certain) with some sweet, stale berry-like tones in the back. Not very pleasant. Taste is decidedly better; smooth caramel and herbal grassy tones with hints of something very floral which I, knowing the special addition in this one, think is thistle flavor. Soft carbonation, medium body. OK, but not exactly amazing.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 FatPhil (7597) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - FEB 25, 2013
500ml bottle (Black Door, Helsinki)
Rich reddy brown, large spongy persistent head. Rich malty aroma, some husky spiciness, a hint of ginger, and noble UK hops. And that was straight from the fridge - I imagine warmer it’s a hummer! There’s a touch of wool later. Satisfies the Scottish stereotype, a little bit of treacly toffee too. Full palate, pleasant carbonation . Good grainy and husky malty body. Pleasant herbal-to-floral aspects from the thistle - a little bit of treacle in the taste too. Absolutely lovely. Doesn’t work as well for Anna, she’d give it 3.4-ish. I just love the walnut papers in the finish and the dry wooliness.
