Clear copper colour with average size fluffy light tan head.
Some strange sweetness, fruits and herbs in interesting aroma.

Enjoyable tasty Bitter.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ComradeK (526) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - FEB 8, 2012
500ml bottle. Pours a clear, dark chestnut, with a medium light beige head, which lasts fairly well, and leaves decent lace. The aroma blends burnt toffee malt, fruity hops and an unusual floral aroma, which I assume derives from the thistle. Slightly spicy hops up front mix with an astringent light herbal taste, which I am again assuming is a product of the thistles. These flavours give way to smooth, dark malt in the body, with rye bread, toffee and some fruitcake notes detectable. Light floral hops and more of the herbal taste linger in the finish. A strange but satisfying beer: strange because of its unusual flavours and satisfying because its production involves killing thistles, ugly and vicious plants as they are.

Body is medium, malty and lightly sweetish flavor, some caramel and roasted malt with some herbal spiciness. 3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Blairgus (1189) - California, USA - MAY 11, 2011
11 May 2011, bottle. light to med brown, clear, no bubbles. looks like a nice nut brown ale. copper malt background with a significant rose or other floral element. full body and fairly fizzy. with a copper malt background, heather comes to the front and forms the defining characteristic of the beer. it is slightly tart as far as the malt is concerned and i’m not a big fan of heather in my beer. okay.
