2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Surely a mis-nomer? The Cairngorm Black Gold should be re-labled as Caillie. The bird, of which this beer is named after is big, strong and black (unless seen up close in which case it’s best to make off in the opposite direction!) This beer is the complete opposite. It’s thin & pale and weak. O.K. but nothing like the bird which gives a lasting impression when encountered.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A refreshing pale ale that pours light gold fom the hand pump with a frothy head. Nice lattic as the head recess down the glass. The nose is fresh and zesty the malty balance is there. Akin to an IPA but without the dry palate. At 3.8 ABV it’s a great lunchtime pint served at Glenuig Inn by grumpy Steve.
