Bottle from Tesco, Kirkwall. Gold, fluffy and lasting white head, gentle condition. Quite grainy in the nose with some low grassy happiness reminiscent of a European pilsner, quite dry and bitter in the mouth with a touch of yeastiness and low grain notes, finish is lingering hop bitterness and a slight fruity maltiness, cheese, ginger, woody

On cask at the Grosvenor. Appearance - hazy golden with a proportionate head. Nose - burnt orange and malt. Taste - more of the same. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a slightly dry astringent finish. Overall - not bad but wouldn’t have another.

500ml bottle Tesco. Hazy pale golden colour. Sweetness if caramel and biscuits from the pale malts with thorough hopping adding a floral bitterness. Good session ale, plenty flavour

Surely a mis-nomer? The Cairngorm Black Gold should be re-labled as Caillie. The bird, of which this beer is named after is big, strong and black (unless seen up close in which case it’s best to make off in the opposite direction!) This beer is the complete opposite. It’s thin & pale and weak. O.K. but nothing like the bird which gives a lasting impression when encountered.

A refreshing pale ale that pours light gold fom the hand pump with a frothy head. Nice lattic as the head recess down the glass. The nose is fresh and zesty the malty balance is there. Akin to an IPA but without the dry palate. At 3.8 ABV it’s a great lunchtime pint served at Glenuig Inn by grumpy Steve.

Bottle in the wild. Earthy citra hops. Like sticking your nose down a bag of leaf hops! Clear golden colour with big white head. Small head is lasting. Quite bitter, dry, light sweetness. Finish is dry. Soapy texture. Light carbonation.

Scopey (6178) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - APR 30, 2014
Bottle from Tesco. It pours pale gold with a small white head. The nose is fresh, tropical fruits, light grain, five alive fruit juice and citrus peel. The taste is crisp, bitter, straw, grapefruit rind, lemon and peppery notes with a lingering bitter finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Crisp, fresh, good level of bitterness and rather drinkable. One of the best Cairngorm offerings.

Cask handpull at The Flower Pot Maidstone. Clear dark gold lasting head. Not really on but got what was left in the cask. No condition in the mouth. Some biscuit. Diacetyl aroma. Not good.

500ml Bottle- Golden with a white head. Melon, peach and a hint of mandarin in the aroma. Lemon, peach, grapefruit and biscuity malt all feature in the refreshing taste.
