COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
A traditional strong “Imperial Pale Ale” beer, that’s light in body and amber in colour. Refreshing tart initial bitterness with subtle malt flavours. The big hopped finish is dry with citrus notes.

Handpump in the bar at Glen Nevis Holidays campsite. Hazy pale gold in colour with a thick white head. I assume it was hazy due to it being WELL chilled. Well hopped, with a subtle malty sweetness. Ok stuff, didn’t need to be that cold tho!

Cask. Golden. Quite hoppy, spicy, earthy crackery malts. Tons of butterness. Really nice. Refreshing, long bitter finish. Freshness matters with this one - at the brewery it was poppin’ but at the JDW in Inverness it was less compelling.

On tap @ Teuchters, Edinburgh. Appearance - dark side of golden. Nose - some toffee but more of a malt to biscuit finish. Taste - toffee and pine. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish. Overall - solid cask ale. Whoever loaded this onto Ratebeer has made the fine observation that this is a Premium Bitter rather than the IPA that is in its title.

On tap at the Brewery. Pours clear light golden with a small white head. Aroma of nutty malts, some hops as well. Taste is strong resiny bitter with a touch of butterscotch, dry resiny lingering fnish.

Touch of butter in the aroma, so not at peak condition. Most of teh interest here is in the finish Seems like both male and female hops from teh soapy bitterness, which Anna’s not so keen on. Otherwise just a simple bitter bitter.

Cask by handpump at State Bar, Glasgow - clear amber ale, bubbly off-white head, fruity hop aroma, good temperature, berry fruits, medium body, carbonation on the high side, sharp citrus tang

First tasted this in the Last Post, Paisley (JDW) in August 2009. Cask ,handpump dispense. Clear pale amber in colour with orange tints around the edges and a thin creamy white head. Strong dusty hop aroma with hints of orange peel. Thin creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt base gives a powerful smack of tangy, zesty grapefruit and gooseberry flavours. Dusty hops assault the throat with moisture sucking dryness in the aftertaste. Warming alcoholic kick of Grand Marnier in the long bitter sweet finish with thick cut marmalade, barley sugar and bitter hop resins present. An excellent ESB style ale and worth seeking out.

Cask conditioned at The Chequers (Nicholson’s), Oxford. Amber to gold with white head. Dry toffee caramel notes initially on a thinnish body, pretty malty without the hop kick you would want. Reasonable though on the whole.

On cask at The Caley. Dark golden colour with a thin white head. Strong caramel aroma with some apple cider qualities. Not bad. Alcoholic is quite present with a nice backbone of caramel malt, yeast and some pleasant mustiness. Lingering dryness.
