COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pasteurised bottle.
A pleasant mahogany coloured best bitter, malt predominating, gives a satisfying fullness of flavour. A glass or two of "Nessie’s Monster Mash" is a must before seeking an audience with the monster. The legendary monster is a source of constant speculation and rumour as he watches from his lair deep in the dark and mysterious depths of majestic Loch Ness.

Super malty aroma, and perhaps a bit yeasty. Dark roast in the taste. Palate is a littel watery, but not thin. Some yeastiness in the taste too. General feeling is that it’s a bit watery, but otherwise OK.

Bottle: Almost clear, reddish-amber coloured, bigger lacy & stable off-white head; malty and slight roasty nose, dried fruits and herbal hops detectable; light to medium bodied, creamy MF, moderate bitter-sweet flavour; lingering citrussy and roasty finish - with traces of cacao-powder - and a lingering hoppy aftertaste. A goody.....

(bottle) Clear, ruby brown colour with a medium-sized tanned foamy head. Slightly sweet toasty malty aroma with notes of caramel, nuts and fruity and spicy hops. Moderately bitter and slightly sweet flavour, light with a medium carbonation. Toasty malty base with caramel, berry-fruits and slightly herbal and spicy hops; moderately dry and bitter hoppy finish with a rounded malty touch. 01.I.10

500 ml bottle. Dark amber colour with a thin tan head. Very malty aroma of caramel, vanilla, and brown sugar. Flavour is also very good, malty, brown sugar, UK hop spiciness and a nicely bitter finish to round it off.

Bottled. Dark amber with an off-white head. Aromas are toffee, roast malts and berries. Flavours are fruity and toffee malts, quite sweet with an earthy, dry finish. A bit thin with bloating carbonation. Not too bad, though.

500ml bottle, trade with JohnRMurdoch. Frothy, beige, bubbly head. Clear mahogany coloured body. Laces nicely. Good looking, indeed. Slightly roasted malts on the nose, mid-sweet. Malt-accented taste with nuts and caramel followed by dried fruity, bitter ending. A fine version of the style (hotel room, Edinburgh 10.08.2013).

2010-07-15. Dark amber brown body with a nice creamy beige head and light lace. Flavour is lightly bitter over a maltier base, dusty toasty malt, mild citrus touches. 6+ Mild aroma, light hops over dusty dry malt. 6+ Average bodied palate. Tastes a bit like an English bitter blended with a mild or brown ale. Enjoyable but milder than expected. Bottle from The Grog Shop, Oxford

UPDATED: JUN 25, 2004 Bottled 500ml. Dark chestnut colour. Malty aroma, with a yeasty undertone, which is odd as this isn't a live product. Roasty malt on the palate. I get the coffee too. Not very bitter - in the Scottish style - by quite clean on the finish. Not sweet. Just a hint of a metallic tang in the aftertaste. Not bad at all for a non bottled-conditioned ale.

Bottle at The Penguin Beer Bobbing/13 Beers of Halloween tasting. Deep clear ruby with a fine mushroom halo. Decent buttered malt loaf aroma. Fine malty refreshment with insinuating notes of caramel, fig and malt loaf. Bready, a bit buttery and good.

Cask. Relatively high off-white fluffy lasting head. Very dark red body. Caramel coffee roasted malt aroma and flavor with low carbonation and a long sweet aftertaste.
