COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular.
A pleasant mahogany coloured best bitter, malt predominating, gives a satisfying fullness of flavour. A glass or two of "Nessie’s Monster Mash" is a must before seeking an audience with the monster. The legendary monster is a source of constant speculation and rumour as he watches from his lair deep in the dark and mysterious depths of majestic Loch Ness.

GBBF. Cask. Clear dark brown beer. Small bubbly tan head. Semi dry palate. Very slightly sour and tangy malt. Generic hops fruit. Inoffensive tasty little beer.

Cask @ Old Mill, Brodie
Light chestnut brown, clear, thin tight white head, some lacing
Aroma - soft caramel malts...bit of dark toffee...soft toasted malts...no hops
Taste - caramel toffee malts...light chocolate caramel...malty...light fruity malts in background...very soft bitter hops in background...less malty than I’ve had it before, flavour bit subdued
Palate - very soft carb, thinnish body, sweet malty palate. Finish of soft toffee malts...caramel malts...soft malty tail with slight burnt note.
Overall - Easy drinking but remember it being considerably more malty and having more flavour...bit bland today

First tasted this in Gabriel’s, Paisley in June 1999. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear dark copper red in colour with a thin creamy white head. Slight note of soft caramel in the short aroma. Thin creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts give a digestive biscuit base with tart redcurrant fruit and boiled cabbage notes. Dusty prickle of hop resins impart a slight dryness to the short aftertaste. Finish is slightly on the malty side with citric fruit overtones. A reasonable session bitter but not one of the best from the Cairngorm portfolio.

Sweet smelling ale that is a mix of dark summer fruits & toffee. It is quite typical for the style.
Nutty brown in colour and semi-clear with a very thin white lacing for a head.
Again pretty typical for the style with a taste that closely matches the aroma with dark fruits dominating. A nice bitter finish. Light bodied and smooth to drink but not watery.

Pretty decent for an ale and almost right down the middle of the scale in every aspect. A nice, drinkable pint although not necessarily one I’d look out for again. I did enjoy the name though.

Half, cask at Dagda Bar. Slightly off-white head with good duration atop of an attractive, clear dark amber body. Smell of resin-like hops mixed with earthy malts. Resinous hops up front in flavour with dark, bread-like malts behind. Solid bitter end. A good one (Edinburgh, 28.11.2010).

Cask @ Halfway House. Rich red-brown. Wholemeal bread dough aromas with a hint of butter. Soft palate and relatively light body. Nice flavor profile. Starts off sweet toffee, mellows to crusty dark bread. Is good stuff.

Cask-conditioned at the Seven Stars’ Scottish beer festival, Bristol 02/09/09. Dark amber with a slight, off-white head. Red fruits and sweet malts all round with a moderately bitter finish. Ok.
