3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 imdownthepub (7470) - Banbury, - DEC 16, 2003
Cask Conditioned at The Portcullis, Stirling. Deep golden with thin head. A richly malted beer with a sweet fungal tone, little hop impact at all. Sold as Aviemore Gold in this pub for obvious reasons, the Sheepshagger clip being on the back of the pump. More a name than any realbeer interest.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 9, 2012
Pint, hand pulled in the Wrekin Inn, Wellington Shropshire diring Oct 2011.
Golden, but dull: on top a poor excuse for a head, just a thin wisp and collar from the start.
Slight malty aroma, toffee and caramel hints, all minimal.
The taste was semi-sweet with some small hop bitterness later in the mouthfeel. There were citrusy notes in the bitterness and earthy biscuits from the malts.
A strange beer all round, pleasant enough but not really putting its mark on anything, run of the mill, average in all aspects to be honest. Pity, it had travelled a long way from home to be consumed in Shropshire, maybe the journey didn’t suit it?

Nice and frothy summer ale. Only had a half but it’s another reliable beer from Cairngorm.

Cask, Kings Head, Kingsdown, Kent. I somehow knew this wasn’t going to be very good before I took a sip, and my gut instincts were right. Pallid gold looks with minimal lhead. Vague malt and fruit present but heavy on the diacetyl. Attention seeking name that doesn’t follow up with a decent beer. Deeply mediocre.
1.8 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 andsled (24) - Durham, ENGLAND - MAR 5, 2011
We do not approve of jokey titles for its brews. Why do some head brewers find this sort of thing so hilarious? It is usually a sign that you’re about to drink something mind numbingly average as is the case here.

Cask (Bree Louise, London)
6 Sticky mashy aroma, some off fruits
3 Flat, gold
6 Comes alive in the mouth, sweet cakey and bready malts.
3 Flat. Finish has a subtle bitter angle.
13 Almost certainly too old, but a beer with real potential. Shoud rerate.
