McTapps (5934) - Ruhrcity, GERMANY - AUG 30, 2013
Bottle. Starting with the end: This beer ain’t no Golden / Blond Ale, it is definitely more a Bitter than anything else and therefore I’ll see it in this style. Pours out very nice - cloudy, deep golden colour with low head and flat body. Nose is disappointing of light, bitter hops and light barley. The taste is -unexpected to this score- quite watery and without any deepness. Bitter hops, grass, citrus, light acid. Quite dry overall. There is a light unwelcoming metallic finish. It might be refreshing when it is really hot, but overall just too watery and untasty.

Bottle shared with McTapos. Very interesting piwo starting off with a hoppy and citrus aroma combined with some vanilla. Sweetish in the middle with a really tough, more unpleasant, bitter end. Unusual and unbalanced. I am not really sure about that one.

Ljust gyllengul öl med ett lätt vitt skum. Doften är blommig med fläder och lite citrus och en lätt maltighet. Det samma återkommer i smaken på en lättdrucken och god sommaröl.

Clear, pale yellow body with a white, somewhat creamy head that reduces to a very thin but long lasting layer quite quickly. A nice curtain of foam is sticking to the glass when empty. Rather strong and very sweet aroma that is dominated by sweet fruits. The flavours are a bit more interesting and complex, and I get citric and floral notes in addition to the sweet fruits. The taste is light sweet, there are hints of acidity and the moderate bitter finish has a sharp feel, almost like dandelion sap. That latter might be the elderflower, but I’m more familiar with dandelion (this probably says more about my gardening skills than my sense of taste). The body is quite light and dry and has a moderate to soft carbonation. Fair enough.
[50 cl bottle, enjoyed 4 months before BB date, from Meny Alna, Oslo]
