First tasted this at the Troon Beer Festival in September 2004. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear pale straw in colour with a thick white head. Fresh lemon peel in the strong citric aroma. Thin but refreshing mouthfeel and superb lacing throughout. Pale malt base gives a tart grapefruit flavour with hints of lemon and lime. Bitter hop resins present in the long, dry aftertaste and combine well with the citric malt. Finish is slightly dry with lemon drop sweetness. An excellent summer session blond ale and worth trying.

Pint at the Monks Retreat in Reading. Pale brown and clear, no gas, little head. No real aroma, hence 5/10. Nice, bitter and slightly sweet beer, got a little something to it. Aftertaste is a bit tart.

Cask at the Victoria station Wetherspoons. Hazy amber with a tight cream head; elderflower aroma; quite full-bodied with grainy flavour and some citrus; then a slightly cloying sour grain finish. Not very exciting.

House cask at Cloisters. Been a while since I’ve had this one so thought I would give it a go after a heavy whiskey tasting a Big Steve’s. Pours a golden colour with a medium white head. Lots of elderflower aroma with some sweet malt in there. Elderflower flavour really works with lingering bitterness and a dry finish. A little thin but, otherwise, OK.

One of the best Scottish ales. A summer ale that has a pretty good flavour.

Cask at The Old Thameside Inn near London Bridge. Pours hazy gold with a foamy/frothy/creamy white head. Light fruit and citrus aromas. Refreshing. Mostly citrus flavor over mild malt. Finishes nicely bitter.
