On tap at GBBF 05. Having just tried one disappointing UK weiss, here was an instant opportunity to rescue things. Cloudy orange, with a white head. Smells delicious - like mandarin cheesecake! Very delicious in the mouth too: orange, citric, chalk. Smooth, balanced, sweet and dry. Excellent stuff from this very reliable brewery - it tastes so fresh.

50cl bottle thanks to Lewis. Pours dark honey in colour. Nose of resin and stalky vegetables. The taste has honey and mountain herbs. The palate is medium bodied and textured with a reasonably clean finish. Overall, it’s not a bad beer - but it’s NOT A GERMAN HEFE IT’S A WIT.

Amber, crystal clear, thin white head that dissipates to rim
Aroma - very light caramel malt, very light toffee, slight spices ?ginger?...aroma is very very faint
Taste - caramel malts, light soft toffee, bit fruity, slight spices, after a while a bit of orange comes though, bit lacking in flavour here - definitely not a hefeweizen flavour - easy drinking though
Palate - very soft carb, thin body, slighly oily texture, touch of bitterness. Finish as main flavour, rapid, dull, bit of bitter toasted biscuit in the tail
Overall - Nothing like the style - but that’s not important to me - just as a beer it’s a bit bland to me.....it’s certainly better on cask as I remember it

First tasted this in the Saltcot, Saltcoats (JDW) in May 2004. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear orange amber in colour with thin creamy white head. Strong aroma of sweet oranges and roast grain long in intensity. Thin but refreshing mouthfeel and good lacing. Complex malts give a strong fruity flavour of orange, barley sugar and golden syrup in the base. Sweet highland toffee and aromatic herbs also evident. Floral hop resins give a spicy bitterness to the long aftertaste. Finish is sweet with orange liquer notes long in the mouth. An excellent bavarian wheat beer and highly recommended.

UPDATED: APR 29, 2011 Cask @ 2011 Paisley Beer Festival. Resin aroma. Rich golden yellow colour, not much head. Not cloudy like a normal wheat beer. Bland resin biscuit flavour with a hint of wheat. Not a proper wheat beer.

2 April 2011, from cask at brewery. Light orange, fairly hazy. Big yeasty nose. Tart, acidic yeast. Thim/med body and mildly fizzy. It tastes like a British session version of a wheat beer. Lots of stemmy hop taste and bitterness. Wouldn’t pin this as a wheat beer by taste. More of a thin Hopi ale. And nose isn’t a great wheat beer nose.

28th September 2007. St Albans Beer Fest. Light palate. Sweet beer, minerally too. Subtle fruit and zest. Not bitter, very drinkable.

Cask @ Bow Bar, Edinburgh. Caramel color, Creamy white head & body. Caramel malt aroma, sweet malts. Like an Irish Red. not much hefeweizen aspects

Draught at Bow Bar, Edinburgh. Malty aroma, flavor is a bit floral with a bit of bitter astringency in the finish. Wheat character almost non-existant. Thin and light.

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2010 Cask @ Bon Accord. Hazy amber colour, tiny white head. Aroma is hoppy and fruity. Flavour is malty and fruity. Medium carbonated.

Cask @ Counting House, JDW. Nose of vinegar. Flavour is sour, vinegar. -.4

Cask at Edinburgh Beer festival 2008... Yellow ... light yellow ... tart hop nose .. fruity lemon light and sweet sherbert lemon.
