Deep red. Faint head. Little thin perhaps? Fruit to the fore. Mmmm what fruit? Yhink red berries , scottish gorse flavour etc. Ok. Nothing not to like and would take again. On other hand not special.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Asda. Deep red with light head. Aromas of toffee. Tastes of malt, with hints of fruit and hops. Surprisingly fizzy. Bitter aftertaste. A refreshing ale that would go well with crisps or nuts.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Good feel in the mouth, refreshing. Nice balance of bitter flavours, slight licorice and a little sweetness. Nothing exciting here but its a drinkable beer and keeps a decent head. Sort of a heavy - stout mix.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle. Dark red colour with a small off white head. Very little aroma, maybe cereal and hops. A very pleasant taste maybe a little too much caramel in the flavour but only slightly. Nice beer, hard to beat it at £1.25 for 500ml (Asda).

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear, red beer with with an off-white bubbly head. Aroma is malty and fruity. The flavour has the same fruit and malt elements as the smell, with a touch of caramel but I was also getting a very slight zesty, orange hint in the flavour and especially in the backtaste, which gives it a more refreshing edge. Quite pleasant.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A great alternative to a draught bitter for those not able to stock it during the quiet Winter. The ale pours to a generous head and the first aromas are of sweet malt and bread yeast.
The tastes are sweeter than expected from a pale ale and toasted and chocolate malt comes through. Nicely balanced with a hop bitterness that cannot be easily found in a bottle.
Allows the consumption of a fair few in an evening without sticking to the palate. Carbonation is about right.
Overall an enjoyable Scottish ale.
