Cask, Kingdom of Fife BF 07. Dark amber with a thin white head. Laces well. Malty, just enough hop to give some bready tones. Slightly citrus. Mouth is sweet, malty, some roastedness, yeasty. Slightly sweet and coating on the palate.

On draught at The Wenlock Arms. Deep red copper colour with a little offwhite head. Fruity aroma. Toffee flavours with good fruity hoppiness thrown in. Medium to light body. More harmonious than a wildcat, I guess.

Pint in the Eli Jenkins, Swansea. Rich beer with a hint of cherries and caramel. Ruby red in appearance with a decent white creamy head. Tangy bitter but very enjoyable.

A Mes rate:
Cask at Baker Street ’Spoons. Medium brown colour. Hoppy and butterscotch aroma. Fair bit of malt in the flavour with some nutty notes and a dry hoppy finish.

4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Cask @ The Counting House in Glasgow. Strong malt flavours, nice and dark but very drinkable considering the alcohol %. Aftertaste reminded me of candyfloss. The first cairngorm beer I’ve tried.

2.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bright bottled from cask (gravity dispense) at White Cliffs beer Festival, 2006. Drunk on the train on the way back to London. Attractive, burnished bronze colour. Unfortunately, there’s a massive butterscotch whack in the aroma, which obscures pretty much everything else. Better on the palate, with plenty of dark, chewy malt and touches of caramel. Ends up distinctly dry. Shame about the diacetyl.

Wallington Fest. One of the few beers not served in perfect condition. A softly malty and nutty brew with muted hops lingering dull and stale in the finish. Presents as being a little light for a 5.1% beer.
