Gravity fresh @ Pig's Ear Festival, East London. Decent quality. Lovely roasty coffee aroma. Soft, very tasty, inviting and moreish mouthfeel. Slightly on the sweet side of a normal stout, but with a wonderfully bitter finish. Very impressed!
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 stravale (574) - Scottish Borders, SCOTLAND - DEC 16, 2011
Cask @ Old Mill, Brodie
Black with ruby light-through, thich rich white head, good lacing.
Aroma - Chocolate powder, roasted malt, sweet dark malts
Taste - Chocolate, roasted malts, sweet dark malts, bit of burnt crust, quite complex, great flavour.
Palate - soft carb, smooth, silky, medium body. Finish a bit dry with sweet malts, cocoa, roasted malt, burnt crust, earthy.
Overall - This is a mixture of Wildcat and Black Gold. It’s better than both beers and it’s Cairngorm’s best. Very moreish, with a really good flavour and a nice finish (It helped that it was in top condtition)
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - NOV 23, 2011
Tasted this in the Last Post, Paisley (JDW) in October 2000. Cask, handpump dispense. Ruby black in colour with a thick creamy white head. Strong fruity, malty aroma of moist christmas pudding, long in intensity. Smooth creamy mouthfeel and good lacing throughout. Dark complex malts deliver a rich maltloaf base with strong fruit elements of juicy raisins, maple syrup, dates and overripe banana - almost like a weak McEwans No1. Slight prickle of hops in the brief aftertaste but malt returns with a sweet alcoholic port like finish. Tastes like a traditional Scottish old ale - fantastic session beer this and worth seeking out.

Gravity cask at the Wandsworth Halloween Beer Festival 2011. Pours ruby-brown with a small, off-white head. Mild roast aroma with some artificial chocolate. Fairly sweet flavor, light roast, cocoa, slightly tangy dark malts. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Lightly sticky finish, mild roast, some dark sugar, still some tangy dark malts. Alright.

@ Sir Walter Scott, the Weatherspoon’s Pub in Edinburgh airport after security--which is a much more pleasant place to sit than the other Weatherspoon’s before security. Dark brown and slightly muddled. Aroma has some glue. But mostly it is simple brown bread malt. Soft palate. The flavors are nice bready malts. Alright.

Dark brown. The aroma is nutty and a little bit toasty. Sweetish, lightly toasty with a molasses accent. Not a great brown ale, but it’s decent.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Rune (4924) - Tromsø, NORWAY - DEC 14, 2008
I was happy to find this one on cask at Aikemans in St Andrews the day before Halloween. Served at a comfortable drinking temperature, and found to be a real ale in excellent condition. Clear russet coloured body, with little head to speak of. Quite tempting smell of anise and dark malts. The flavour is a mixture of berries, sweet caramel malts and dark fruits. Medium bodied . A well made, drinkable ale for the season [30.10.2008].
