4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 beerinmarch (2830) - USA - OCT 8, 2007
On tap at the brewery. While I was a bit disapointed in their year-round menu I have to say their seasonals were excellent. This imperial stout was a gem to be found. So many flavors blend well, almost making it a game to pick out flavors as you go. Hints of port, raisin, burnt chocolate, cocoa, and vanilla. Very smooth on the palate. Just a very well built beer for a cool fall day.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 riversideAK (4563) - Shoreline, Washington, USA - APR 23, 2010
Nose is full of chocolate and cocoa. Dark roast, sweet dark malts and a hint of butter. Pours black with a giant tan head. Lots of sweet dark malts, chocolate, dark fruit, cocoa powdery flavors, roast is there as well. Big full body, soft alcohol with mild bitterness. I found this to be towards the sweet side of impy stouts.
