ross (1693), weddington, South Carolina, USA Jun 30, 2009 Can from my friend in Oregon. Pours out a nice orange color without much of a head. Smell is orange, grass, straw, and heavy on the hops. Mostly centennial comes through on this. Taste is hoppy and kind of sweet. Dry, very easy to drink.. I am running out of things to say here. This is a good beer, but its just a typical west coast IPA. This one does not stand out at all. Its good, its in a can, its worth trying, but it doesnt stand out. mcsquint (93), , Missouri, USA Jun 26, 2009 Poured from 12 oz can into pint mug:
Aroma - Citrus,pine, grassy, malty.
Appearance - Dark golden amber in color. Clear, with nice 2 finger, off-white head. Excellent lacing on glass.
Flavor - Golden malt at first; quickly followed by citrus and pine. Finishes fairly dry but leaves slight metallic aftertaste.
Palate - Medium. Carbonation is very fine in character.
Overall - As big as this is on flavor, I would have thought the ABV would be more than 6.1%. It’s very drinkable; but at @ $14.00\6 pack it will have to be an occasional treat
fakepurseninja (705), Washington, USA Jun 25, 2009 Straight forward approach to the NWIPA - Moderately bready malt backbone accented with sweet caramel notes and light, ripe peach hints. Solid grapefruit character with a leaf and grass component. Great balancing bitterness that finishes with a moderate resinous oily character. Really well done drink. Hopeye (37), Oregon, USA Jun 24, 2009 It’s a good IPA. In a can. Just took a case of it down the wild section of the Rogue River on a raft trip (no bottles allowed). I had "yellow can" after a good rapid. I had a yellow can first thing at camp. I had a yellow can for breakfast! And it’s not just the novelty of the can--it’s really a solid IPA. I have no idea what it looks like, because I’ve never poured it, but I imagine it looks as good as it tastes. And did I mention that it comes in a can?! We bought it in Ashland for $26 a case, but in Portland it’s $10 a sixer. They need to work on that. RHeastings (218), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 24, 2009 Enjoyed from a 12oz can in a pub glass. The beer pours a medium to deep copper, with a small white head. Aromas of hops dominate the nose, giving at once citrus, grapefruit, earth, and a bit of pine. The palate starts and ends bitterly, almost bordering on a slight harshness. However, there is a deep malt backbone that runs right through the middle, and that cuts the aforementioned. The finish is just about neutral on the sweet/dry spectrum. Overall, a nice American IPA, and one that I’m glad I took a chance on trying. joshwilfong (714), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Jun 19, 2009 orangish red with large white head, moderate carbonation for the style. citrusy hop nose that could be more pronounced. flavor initiates with moderate bitterness before floral, spicy and citrusy hop flavor that is very complex and lingers for awhile as it mixes with the alcoholic warmth in a sea of pleasantness. the finish is dry with mild malt sweetness. a very nice IPA, pleasantly surprised lumpsowers (235), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA Jun 18, 2009 Cloudy copper pour, big head and lace. Major sweet hop aroma. Lots of piny hops, nice carb, with significant candy sweetness. Thick on the palate with some alcohol. Dusty dark fruits and a hint of vanilla. Yum
