This beer gets its name from the Hopunion Hop Hash nuggets - pure hop lupulin extracted and scraped from the Hopunion pelletizing line, then boiled for 90 minutes in the kettle. According to the brewer, this has never been done before! Premium 2-row, Great Western Munich, Crisp 60L and rolled oats comprise the grain bill designed to carry this load. Fermented warm using American Ale yeast to bring out the fruitiness, the resulting beer is designed to be a surprise on all fronts. Even the brewer has no idea how hoppy it’ll be.

[My bottle (660ml) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jercraigs & mabel] Pours a deep orange-amber with a large never-ending frothy off-white head. Some lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel malt, resiny hops, floral notes and some fruit. Resiny and floral hops flavour along with caramel malt and a long moderate to big bitter finish. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good, not great.

Amber color, clean, with generous compact head. Caramel aroma with earthy manure. Caramel flavor, semi sweet, hard: strong bitterness, but harsh and unfresh.

Bottled at SBWF. Clear amber, coarse head. Aroma of butter and hay. Mid sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Somewhat sticky with near inky bitterness. More bitter than aromatic.

ABUSEDGOAT (2321) - California, USA - OCT 9, 2013
Clear amber, moderate head, good lace/retention. Aroma is strong resin with upfront caramel and crystal malt. Medium to full bodied for the style, moderate sweetness, lightly sticky. Not really my style for an IPA but pretty well made.

Sample at SBWF 2013. Clear copper with a small head. Aroma and taste of floral hops, toffee, hay and light malt. The finish was bitter and dry. Descent.

From bottle. Pours a pretty orange with nice white head. Not much nose, particularly for something called Hop Hash. Fruit with some spice, hop profile lacking. Decent, but fell well short of my expectations.

750 ml - Good India Pale Ale, had the required hoppy nose and malt. Good but not remarkable.
