Bomber. Caramel odor. More malt than hops. Dark copper. Really nothing out of the ordinary. Not enough distinguishable flavor for me

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 maekchu (1090) - Hirakata, JAPAN - FEB 23, 2013
Bomber. Malt, toffee, dirty piney hop nose, with a touch of molasses. Light brown and pored out with huge fluffy head. Balanced initial / malt heavy mid palate, with dark sweetish caramel / mild, balanced finish. Medium body. A sweet sort of IPA; not bland, but not the most flavorful one on the block, either.
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 Glouglouburp (5562) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JAN 18, 2013
In short: A mess of a IPA. Bad.
How: Bottle 22oz. Consumed probably fresh, one month after purchase in a PA store.
The look: Cloudy orange-amber body topped by a medium white head leaving lots lof lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose is very dank hops, overripe fruits, wet moldy stuff. The beer smells hoppy for sure but really not my type of hop aroma. Taste grainy malts, moldy bread, rotting fruits, strong yeast presence, strong hops spiciness, orange peels, residual sugars, soapy notes, eeird bitterness. There was so many things wrong with this IPA I cannot even say what bothered me about it, the whole thing bothered me. A tasty but very awkward beer. I’m puzzled by Caldera, this brewery is capable of the best and the worst. I’m never having this shitty beer again, as the old proverb says: Hoppotunity Knocks only once.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Dodgrblu (310) - Sacramento, California, USA - JAN 14, 2013
Bottle from Capitol Beer and Taproom, medium disappearing head, Reads more amber sweetness than hoppy bitterness. Very drinkable but not sure it should join the ranks of 100s of beer w/ "hop" in the name.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Fatehunter (750) - Corbett, Oregon, USA - JAN 8, 2013
A nice finger of off-white head on a medium straw colored body.
A solid pine and lemon aroma.
The taste leads with a malt smoothness then quickly hits with a big dose of bitterness. Finishes with a touch of sweetness. Good balance with a bit of complexity.
Smooth texture for an IPA, moderate carbonation and medium bitterness.
A good IPA. Well worth grabbing a couple.

Bottle. Orange pour with a fluffy off white head. Aroma is spicy, fruity, a bit yeast. Pineapple and tropical fruits. Flavor is surprisingly fruity. Like pineapple juice almost. Sweet but with a good bitter bite. Good beer.
