A nice finger of off-white head on a medium straw colored body. A solid pine and lemon aroma. The taste leads with a malt smoothness then quickly hits with a big dose of bitterness. Finishes with a touch of sweetness. Good balance with a bit of complexity. Smooth texture for an IPA, moderate carbonation and medium bitterness. A good IPA. Well worth grabbing a couple.

Can from Whole Foods Arlington VA. Presumably a nice golden body with an inviting head. Nice nose of hops, citrus and wheat. Taste is also lots of hops, some citrus, and nice wheaty notes. Really good.

Deep amber, moderate nice head. Aroma of nectar, tropical fruit, melon, mighty. Medium body. Thick texture. Massive fruity & nectary taste with big amount of hoppy resiny bitterness. Very good.

650 mL bottle poured into a pint glass. Originally reviewed 6/1/2011. Pours a murky amber with a sizable head. Lacing is minimal once the head dissipates. Doesn’t look bad. Some citrus hops in the nose. Not overwhelming. There’s a background smell that reminds me of homebrew. Like a musty smell. Taste is initially hoppy, but not all that hoppy. Behind that is a nutty maltiness, maybe with a hint of spiciness. Finally, however, is an awful grassy bitterness that renders the beer just about undrinkable. It coats the mouth and doesn’t go away. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. After the hops and malt it dries out quickly, leaving the bitterness just hanging. It emphasizes the awful flavor. The first half of the flavor is decent, but the finish is very bad. My brother-in-law and I both drainpoured our glasses once I finished the review.

Can to tulip. Crystal clear resin amber with an off white enduring head. Nose was fairly vacant for an IPA. Long before the 8/8/16 expiration. Palate is dry crisp hop. Saltine cracker in there somewhere coming from the malts. Finish has a little sweet hit, but the dry hop keeps running over. Finish hits in the back roof of my mouth with a little lemon hit. I don’t get it.

Light brown colour. Very strong aroma or resinous hops. Strong taste that is bitter but also has a sticky, syrupy note. A bit dull for its heavy flavour.

12 oz can (canning date of June 2015) served in a lager glass. A: moderate off-white head over a hazy copper body. Some sticky lacing. Surprisingly malty aroma but then this can is a bit older than optimal for style. More hops are evident upon tasting. Mild-medium bitterness. Feel: Medium body with medium carbonation.

From can. Pours a copper-amber, slightly hazy, finger of strong fluffy head, sticky lacing. Aroma is very dank, pine, citrus, nice malt sweetness. Taste follows suit, a touch unbalanced, more pine than I would like, that dank resiny type, citrus feels a bit muted. It’s not as refreshing as it should be, more bitter than it needs to be, citrus feel builds over time which is good. I’ll stick with Caldera IPA, it does the job a lot better.
