Kettle Series. When hopportunity knocks, answer it. This ale is Caldera’s rendition of answering the Pacific Northwest call for a @*! pile of Centennial hops with a big beer to back it up. Don’t get left out in the cold, open up and fill the void within you . . .

Hazy bronze with a beige head. Fruity/grapefruit aroma, A strong malty beginning with a bitter finish. Well balanced, not that hoppy, but still really good.

Can. Pours amber with off white head. Aroma is sweet malty caramel hops. Taste is sweet honey burnt sugar/caramel grapefruit piney with sweet piney finish. It’s pretty balanced and good but just not my preferred style.

Caldera hopportunity knocks On tap at Imazato with a burger. The aroma is big citrus while the taste is malty biscuit and bitter citrus/pine. A solid IPA but not all that special. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can from Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte - BE. Color: clear amber beer with no carbonation and medium white foam. Smell: resin domination, very high pine notes. Caramel balanced. Not so fruity. Taste: full body with caramel and resin attack. Very high pine presence. Intensive taste. Good attenuation with sweet caramel finish. Very nice beer. Aftertaste: resin and pine. High bitterness and caramel. Really nice pine IPA. I like it.

Deep amber, moderate nice head. Aroma of nectar, tropical fruit, melon, mighty. Medium body. Thick texture. Massive fruity & nectary taste with big amount of hoppy resiny bitterness. Very good.

650 mL bottle poured into a pint glass. Originally reviewed 6/1/2011. Pours a murky amber with a sizable head. Lacing is minimal once the head dissipates. Doesn’t look bad. Some citrus hops in the nose. Not overwhelming. There’s a background smell that reminds me of homebrew. Like a musty smell. Taste is initially hoppy, but not all that hoppy. Behind that is a nutty maltiness, maybe with a hint of spiciness. Finally, however, is an awful grassy bitterness that renders the beer just about undrinkable. It coats the mouth and doesn’t go away. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. After the hops and malt it dries out quickly, leaving the bitterness just hanging. It emphasizes the awful flavor. The first half of the flavor is decent, but the finish is very bad. My brother-in-law and I both drainpoured our glasses once I finished the review.

Can to tulip. Crystal clear resin amber with an off white enduring head. Nose was fairly vacant for an IPA. Long before the 8/8/16 expiration. Palate is dry crisp hop. Saltine cracker in there somewhere coming from the malts. Finish has a little sweet hit, but the dry hop keeps running over. Finish hits in the back roof of my mouth with a little lemon hit. I don’t get it.
