3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Small yellowish head over stunningly beautiful ruby-copper beer. Smoke, smoked ham, some sweet malts too; tomatofoccacia. Sweetish, smoked, a bit of rosewater and smoked ham. Alcoholsweetness too. Medium bodied, quite slick. Not bad, if a tad on the sweet side.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
65 cl bottle @ home
Aroma is sweet, smoky and malty with some toffee and smoked ham. Rather sweet for a smoked, feels even a bit sticky. But this is American, no surprises here. Flavour is sweet with toffee, malt, smoky tones and . Finishes with mellow hoppy tones. Smoke is intense, but not that intense as I expected from the text. A tad too sweet and sticky for me – drinkability suffers. A bit disappointing, but definitely not bad still.

Hazy brown color. Nice smoke aroma and flavor, deep; mellow brew, woody, with more campfire in the end. Very nice, it does a good job.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
22 oz. bottle, pours a dark amber with a small white head. Aroma brings out smoked meat, lager yeast and caramel. Flavour is very similar - the smoke isn’t overburdening, but is certainly front and centre, with smoked meat, caramel, and lager yeast. Very well-balanced, with a finish of light smoke and caramel. Solid smoked beer.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Head is initially average sized, frothy/fizzy, light brown, mostly diminishing.
Body is medium brown.
Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, toasted grain), with notes of smoked meat, ashes, peach, plastic.
Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly bitter.
Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately bitter, slightly unclean.
Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic.
Has potential...the smoked aspect is beefy and pleasant, but there’s an unhealthy plastic note in there too, and the aftertaste is similarly kind of dirty/plasticky. Overly sweet and syrupy in the mouth. Clean it up and sharpen the mouth experience and we might have something really fun here, because they certainly didn’t skimp on the smoked malt.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Poured into a snifter out of a 22oz bomber.
Pours clear deep ruby with a one finger white head. Good head retention with above-average lacing.
Aroma lets you know right off the bat that this one is quite smoky. Great bonfire/bacon aroma with a little bit of grass and fruit in the background from the hops. Heavy on the smoke, though, which I love.
The flavor is also very smoky but has some more complexities compared to the aroma. More campfire and ash but with some fruitiness from the yeast and perhaps the hops. There is some biscuity malt and caramel along with some molasses. Bitterness is on the light side but the sweetness remains restrained.
Overall, an excellent rauch and one of the better non-German examples I have had. Very drinkable.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
From the 650 ml. bottle. Copper bronze pour leading up to an of-white head. Busy carbonation. That aroma is 10 out of 10 for me! I love my smoked beers to smell like I’m standing next to a roaring bonfire and that is what I get from this. I barely care about the grainy malt character because I’m just about coughing with smoker’s cough thanks to this sensational aroma! Medium body. The smokiness is a little muted in the taste but there is this fascinating cherry-like character, maybe from the cherry wood they used, that erupts on my palate. This is absolutely wonderful. Wish I picked up more than one!

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours deep gold into a stem glass. Bright white head with excellent retention recedes leaving spot lacing to coat surface. Sweet smoke and maple aromas. Soft with sweet caramel and smoke upfront turning to dried bacon in the lasting mildly bitter finish.
