3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured out of a bottle into a tulip glass. Lots of bubbles, almost transparent, rust-red color. No head.
Smell: Smoky, smoke smoke. Smells like right after I get the BBQ going but before I throw any meat on the grill. I also get a green olive scent at the beginning.
Taste: Smoke. Burnt wood. Sweet malt at the end. No bitterness at all. I think the smoke mellows out the intense malt sweetness that usually accompanies a bock.
Very crisp, it is a lager after all.
A good beer. There are not too many smoked beers made, so for that reason alone I tried it. Well worth it, though it was not my favorite smoked beer.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle at the "Dean is a cheap bastard tasting cos he let Rene buy a beer from the shop and then asked to taste it for the tick" tasting. Poured a clear medium amber with a thin round white head. The aroma is big smoky bacon. The flavour is moderate bitter with a rich woody, resin, smoky bitter hop palate. Medium bodied with average carbonation.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle at the "Dean is a cheap bastard tasting cos he let Rene buy a beer from the shop and then asked to taste it for the tick" tasting. Rusty orange color, small off-white to beige head. Aroma has a lot of smoke and smoky bacon. Taste malts, smoke, sweetish. Tastes better than it smells. Not my thing.

Taste: sweet malty start, caramel, little bitter, soft smokiness, lots of chocolate, bit sugary. Aftertaste: pretty smoky, caramel, some coffee, dark chocolate, lots of dried fruits. Well done!

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Apples and pears with caramel aroma, subtle. little head and copper colour. The rauch part comes only when tasting. Sweet and malty. Caramel aftertaste. Balanced, but not enough rauch and a bit to sweet.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Beautiful amber red transparent, weak head, lively carbonation.
Smokey smell mixed with gentle fruitiness, caramel, apples. Almost like oil. Great balance.
Taste is dark sweetness, berries, caramel on a smokey base. Bit unbalanced, the sweetness gets away from the whole making it somewhat chemical. Bitter finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This was shared with Strykzone on Facebook Chat. From a 22-oz bottle this poured a dark amber with beige head and big bubbles. Nose of roast port or maybe smoked pork. Medium plus body. Smooth mouth feel. Flavor is smoke, with fruit, and toffee in the finish. Some chocolate appears. The smoke is never overwhelming. This is a top flight smoke. Loved it.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bomber from Hayduke that we had together via facebook chat. This is deep opaque amber and has a nice tan head that leaves sticky lacing. The aroma is Slim Jims, the beef stick that comes in a wrapper. The first sip brings less meat and smoke than expected after the aroma. Those are tasted but this is malt forward. A lot of malt that makes for a smooth feel and this is sweet. Woody smoke is also noted along with the meat. That wood seems to be cherry. A bit of hop based bitter fruit is a surprise. And then chocolate milk shake pops up. And then fruit and then toffee. This was really well done. I am not a fan of smoked beers but this one went above and beyond.
