3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 elihapa (1385) - Honolulu, USA - JAN 15, 2012
10/1/11 notes: bottle. Pours ruby-brown, clear, with a head that dissipates within a minute. Aroma is ripe red berries, Mexican chocolate and smoked pork with cranberry. Really interesting, just shy of overwhelming. Flavor is quite smoky, with a rounded medium-light palate that finishes long. Some sweet malts emerge alongside smoky notes. A heavy, weighty flavor, as I find for many smoked beers. Pretty bold stuff, but again relating back to the style, the intensity of the brew suggests a savory food pairing, or a style fanatic.
4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 19/20 poisoneddwarf (976) - Rathdrum, Idaho, USA - MAY 2, 2012
Bomber. Aroma is smoked bacon, pure awesomeness. Pours hazy dark amber-brown with a medium collapsing beige head. Taste is everything I want in a smoked beer. There’s not just a hint of smoke here like in a lot of examples of the style, this is a whole smoker jammed down your throat, filling all senses. Body could be fuller. Delicious!

Pours a dark copper color with a light tan head. A lot going on in the nose. Lots of smoke with a nice underlying red fruit sweetness. Definite hint of smoked pork butt and some chocolate undertones. Smoke, roasted nuts are predominant taste. Sweetness from the nose does not play heavily on the tongue. Long smoky finish on the end.

650ml bomber pours a dark brown color with a small light tan head that settles quickly leaving no lacing behind. Aroma is roasted grains and smoke with some woody notes. Taste is roasted malt bitterness with some mild earthy hops as well and some malty sweetness and an intense smoky finish. Medium to heavy body with very little carbonation. An intense smoked ale that was quite enjoyable.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Ibrew2or3 (4914) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - JAN 7, 2012
Bomber pours clear copper with tan head. The aroma has thick malt sweetness, a bit of prune and date like esteriness and then smooth mild smokiness. The taste has sweet malts rolling quickly into a bit of sweet dark fruity esters and then ending with smooth, yummy, smoky and slightly bacony rauch maltiness. The smoke is on the light side making it a very approachable rauch beer but rather timid for the rauch beer hunter. I could use more rauch but I also enjoy how this level works in this beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 CampesinoTino (497) - Seattle, Washington, USA - OCT 29, 2011
Bomber. Mahogany colored with a sudsy layer of beige head. The aroma is an onslaught of sweet and smoky cherry, beef jerky, tobacco, menthol and roasted malt notes. The flavor is very similar to the aroma with the addition of black cherry, smoked sausage, mesquite and burnt caramel malts. The smoked meat and sweet tobacco notes blend together quite well. Mouthfeel is surprisingly smooth with medium-level carbonation while the finish is naturally burnt and smoky. The overall flavor can best be described as a campfire in a glass. Much better than it sounds.
