3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle poured a very deep brown in color with a thin coating of tan head that fell right back to a ring on the glass. Aroma has chocolate, mild barrel wood, some sweetness, nuts, and nice supporting malts. Mouth feel is medium with a silky coating and low side carbonation. Flavor has a well malted core, mild roasts, chocolate light barrel wood, touches of hops, and a bit of oat like smoothness. I appreciate that even being an imperial in the style that the alcohol is under control and the whole thing is so smooth and well rounded. As a fellow lab lover I raise a glass to Mogli who looks to have been well loved.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from Dawson’s while home in MD for the holidays. A pricey pne at $23. Pours dark brown to black with a half finger of khaki colored head. Big sweet aroma of chocolate, anise, dark fruits, tootsie rolls. Flavor is rich a chocolate up front and then explodes into what can only be described as chocolate milk with a massive amount of Hershey’s syrup in it. The chocolate is crazy up front here. The is a lingering chocolate covered raisin flavor on the palate as well. No oak or bourbon to speak of whatsoever. Starts out thick and rich up front and thins out a bit later in the palate with lowish carbonation. Definitely unique and the most chocolate I have encountered in a beer. If you are looking for chocolate, this is right on. Good stuff.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Stunning pour. Deep ruby hued
Brown body with a tall tan head. Bubbly with nice lacing. Chocolate nose with hints of chocolate. Rich and thick chocolate body. Full mouthfeel with a silky velvet smoothness. Some oat and chocolate with a lot of wood and light smoke. Sweet body with some fruitiness that blends well with the sweet milky chocolate. Light hop pepper at the end. Very simplistic but so very well done.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from 16 Tons Taphouse, Eugene. Pours a rich, slightly cloudy medium-dark brown. Small amount of loose tan head. Aroma rich, chocolate laden, slight hints of roasty character and oak, but a generally overwhelming chocolate sensibility. Body rich and lively, finish is a bitter blend of chocolate and oak, with more of a cacao character lingering. Impressive.

Bomber bottle..white wax cap coating..porter/stout tasting..this paired oh so well with some chocolate chip cookies..tasted reminiscent of a milkshake..no trace of the abv or the bourbon at all..really a good dessert beer but didn’t come across as too sweet..mouthfeel was not as full as expected..slightly thin..ok..really a bit let down by the high price pt on this..decent but not sure lives up to the hype..

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
A- pours a pitch black with two fingers of medium tan head. Decent lacing. S- See's chocolate and oak are both prominent. Oats, earth, toffee, cocoa, cool whip, molasses, and some vegetal notes. M- creamy, medium to heavy body with a sweet medium palate. T- chocolate, plastic and warm alcohol come through in the beginning. Musty oak, toffee, molasses and cocoa powder follow. Some cola. Ending shows some slightly bitter grassy hop notes, mineral water and earthiness. Aroma and taste basically identical.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. white wax top bottle purchased @ Oliver’s beverage center. Nearly dark black with thin white head. Nose is a milk chocolate bar melted in a porter. Cocoa up front with hints of vanilla, Lots of smooth chocolate and even a lactose sugar quality. It really tastes like Whoopers malted milk balls candy. Somehow it doesn’t become overly sweet. A light touch of oak in the finish, damn this is a nice desert beer!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: JAN 2, 2014 Bottle: thanks, Tim! Mostly black pour with a very deep ruby red color at the edges; topped with a khaki colored head, foamy with decent retention. Aroma has notes of largely sweet chocolate, cocoa powder, light coffee beans, & very mild dark raisins. The oak aspect of the beer is quite light. The sweet chocolate aromas grow with time. Taste is straight up baker’s chocolate; a true chocolate lover’s beer. Quite sweet, with low roast but still manageable. Light creamy coffee notes with some very faint oak in the back-end. Competes with Sam Smith’s Organic Chocolate as the beer that’s closest to chocolate milk. This wins, though, as the body is bigger & there’s a touch of oak & coffee depth to it still. Nice & sweet but far from cloying.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle from a trade. Poured into a snifter. Pours black with a half finger of dark brown head. Aroma of sweet chocolate, bourbon, vanilla and oak. Taste is medium sweet and light bitter. Dark chocolate and chocolate pudding. Bourbon, vanilla and oak. Medium bodied with a creamy but surprisingly thin texture. Lively carbonation and a very long finish. Overall, very good. I would classify this as a winner.
