3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle @ Steve’s house, courtesy of Steve. Thanks! Pours a dark brown appearance with a light brown head. Rich cocoa, dark chocolate, marshmallow, a bit woody aroma. Creamy chocolate, somewhat earthy, milk chocolate, a touch boozy, oaky, somewhat herbal flavor that finishes with a bit of vanilla and plenty of chocolate. Pretty good

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
For the price on this puppy, I guess my expectations were just a bit too high. Sure it’s a decent impy porter, but the bourbon masks most of the chocolate notes and it just didn’t seem like it was worth the $18 pricetag. Maybe with some age, this will mellow out and develop a little more. But right now, you could just pour yourself a ten fidy (which is a much better base beer imo) water it down a little to get it to the consistency of a porter, and then add a splash of old crow and you’d end up with about the same thing for about a 1/4 of the cost.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle pours dark brown-black with thin tan head. Aroma heavy chocolate and malts. Taste dark chocolate and cocoa. Bitter finish of oak and unsweetened chocolate. Palate full, a bit thin. I didn’t get much bourbon taste, mainly the chocolate and oak.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Chesapeake, VA. Cola-like brown pour with a thin beige head. Heavy notes of chocolate on the nose with more faint but distinct aromas of bourbon and oak. Vanilla, coconut, chocolate, and oak are in perfect harmony in the flavor. The mouthfeel is possibly a little on the thin side for my liking, especially given the enormous amount of flavor this one has going on. Overall, this is an outstanding imperial porter.
