22 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Chesapeake, VA. Cola-like brown pour with a thin beige head. Heavy notes of chocolate on the nose with more faint but distinct aromas of bourbon and oak. Vanilla, coconut, chocolate, and oak are in perfect harmony in the flavor. The mouthfeel is possibly a little on the thin side for my liking, especially given the enormous amount of flavor this one has going on. Overall, this is an outstanding imperial porter.

Long time want, thanks Scott! Chocolate roastyness, oak barrels, mild bourbon accents. Toffee midway through. Well-balanced, tasty.

On draught at roscoes - pours very dark brown with reddish tint. Nose of hot chocolate. Taste is also of hot chocolate, vanilla, and smoke. Very nice dessert beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This is a rarity, a barrel aged Porter. It's usually stouts that get this treatment. The mouthfeel is excellent and the nose is incredible. It's not smoky like some Porters, but it's smooth and silky. It's not a heavy as some barrel aged beers. Very nice.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle, waxed over. Super sweet aroma, cake-like chocolate the predominate force. This also drinks with a definite sweet edge, milky even. But IMHO the bourbon-laden woodiness doesn’t play well with the hot chocolate ... it comes off a bit weird. (#5179, 7/26/2013)

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz. bottle with a white wax seal. Pours dark brown, almost black with a tan head. Aromas of sweet coffee, oak and roasted malt. Creamy mouthfeel, roasted malt shows well. A bit sweet at first, but then the bitter finish sets in. Excellent beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle, pours a black with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out melted milky chocolate, a little lactose, and more chocolate. Flavour brings out rich milky dark chocolate, not much else -- I don’t really get any of the barrels or any other notes. This is one big, decadent chocolate bomb. Like a sweetened milky, dark chocolate bar melted into a beer. Milky body, with a strong chocolatey finish. No oak detectable anywhere on this, though it probably accentuates the flavours well. Excellent chocolate dessert beer.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. White wax. Black pour with a foamy tan head. Aroma is slightly hoppy with strong notes of chocolate, roasted malt, cookies and coffee. Taste is chocolate cake and brownies with roasted malt, coffee, caramel and soft hops. Body is medium with a chewy overall feel and a soft, bubbly carbonation. Ends with more chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, chocolate cake and soft hops. Delicious!

Smells of vanilla, pours dark, tastes of roasts and vanilla don’t taste chocolate flavors, solid beer but wouldn’t make a regular.
