I bought this a while back, and then just couldn’t get interested for some reason. I think the white wax annoyed me, I don’t know. In any case, I finally was in the mood for something fairly big and chocolatey, and popped it. Wow! Pours a very very dark clear brown. Initial fizzy head surprisingly fades into a lush creamy head. Aroma is of a high quality bittersweet chocolate bar. Amazing. Hint of vanilla too. Just a touch of alcohol. A sniffer for sure. Flavor is more of a rich mix of milk and bittersweet chocolate, with a vanilla and faintly boozy finish. Just a mite thin on the palate, probably because it tries to play porter rather than stout. But still a pleasant surprise, enjoyed this one. Still smelling on it an hour later.

Aroma of alcohol, malts and chocolate. Dark black pour, medium khaki head. Taste is semi-sweet chocolate and fluffy marshmallow. Very smooth. Very good start to finish. Would recommend.

Pours a dark black brown with a tan head leaving moderate lacing. Aromas of roasted malts and chocolate amd the barrell aging. Chocolate flavor is strong and immediate, more of a semi sweet chocolate than bitter dark, some slight coffee notes and a touch of licorice. Absolutely delicious and worth trying if you appreciate porters.

Bottled at SBWF. Near black, small beige head. Aroma of milk chocolate. Sweet with full body and clean, rounded mouthfeel. Toffeeish chocolate, not much else. Fairly low bitterness. A candyish superficial beer, Southern Tier style.

Very dark mahogany pour with a full light brown milk chocolate head that slowly recedes. Nose is sweet chocolate. smooth mouth feel that hits early with sweet milk chocolate, bitter sweet chocolate, caramel. Finish is very pleasant, a great balance of bitter, velvety smooth and sweet. I don’t get a lot of oak, instead I think that simply smoothened the edges and refined it very well. Impressed. Great tribute to the pooch on the cover.

Sample at SBWF 2013. Dark brown with a small head. This was a sweet one with a lot of chocolate. The taste reminded a lot of "chokladpudding". Also milk and some notes of vanilla. A dessert beer. I like it!

22oz bottle pours a translucent brown with some thin, beige head. Nose has a ton of mocha, cake, chocolate brownie, vanilla, brown sugar, coffee. Flavor is similar, mocha, vanilla, brown sugar, chocolate brownie ala mode. Slightly hot finish.

an expensive beer, close to $20 for the 22oz bottle .. . medium brown .. mild foam .. . chocolate, tart tar, and mild barrel .. . a lighter porter, not bad but for the price, not worth it at all .. . . this isn’t a farm.

Bottle at home. Pours clear black with a medium, frothy beige head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy chocolate, some roast malt notes, prunes and figs. Flavor is malt dominant with chocolate, light hops and bitterness, dark fruits and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.
