3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Very pleasing aroma of vanilla, chocolate and (oddly enough) raw cookie dough. Deep black color with a thin foam. Smooth flavors of cocoa nibs, mocha, toffee and slightly thick molasses. The oak flavor is present throughout the palate. Overall, this is well balanced but there isn’t as much complexity as I had anticipated.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle generously shared by Sparky @ Woodshed 2.0! This one is all Godiva, Ghirardelli, brownie batter, Hershey’s syrup, and Nestlé Quik. Minimal barrel influence. Not a ton of bourbon, oak, or vanilla...but who cares when decadent chocolate is involved. Really solid. Surprisingly good!

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz. dipped in white wax bottle- Pours black with a nice creamy tan two finger head that should stick around for awhile and nice sheeting lace. Aroma is decadent chocolate, creamy, some coffee, but this all chocolate. The taste is bittersweet chocolate, some wood, bourbon, getting some fruitiness in there somewhere, cherries or something, not in your face, just a hint. Body is full and carbonation is medium but kind of high for the style. I always love chocolate beers and I always love Imperial Porters, so this was a no brainer, the oak aged was Icing on the cake, very nice beer from a wonderful craft brewer.

What a cool beer. Love the label! Anyways, the aroma is mainly dark chocolate, brownies, vanilla, fudge, light bourbon, and awesomeness. Very nice. Pour is black with a tan head. Tons of chocolate and bourbon goodness in the flavor. Chocolate cake and fudge brownies are not stretches of the imagination with the flavors this beer presents. Very nice, thanks random folks at Hunahpu Day 2013.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle:   Super deep garnet, mainly a dark brown otherwise.   Large pillowy light beige head, nice lacing.   Soft chocolate nose, slight brownie.   Not getting any barrel aging or oak on the nose.   Similar tongue, chocolate but not too sweet, with a bit more noticeable bourbon/oak on the tongue, albiet very weak.   Body and mouthfeel are straight up moderate, almost a bit weak.   Finishes with a bunch of what I would say are cocoa nibs.   Decent, but not earth shattering.   A touch dry, like powdery dry.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at DBS. Smelled of coffee and chocolate. Tasted pretty much the same, but it had a little too much bitterness to it. Still pretty damn good.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz bottle. Dark brown with a creamy beige head. Smells like vanilla extract and chocolate egg cream with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Smooth medium body with a tang. Taste is chocolate syrup, cane sugar and oak finishing with welcome bitter black coffee. Where’s the bourbon? Too much unrefined sugar but good for dessert.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Picked up a bottle from the tap house in Ashland.
Great pour, a finger of tan head on a dark brown body.
The aroma is all chocolate. It smells great though.
The taste is chocolate throughout. There’s a mild bitterness and the chocolate avoids being too sweet. Great balance and complexity.
Smooth texture, low carbonation and medium body.
A really nice porter, especially if you like chocolate.
