22 oz bottle into a tulip. From notes. A: Pours a very dark red color; this is one of the lighter porters Iíve seen in a while The head is a one finger mocha shade, with decent retention. Not much lacing is left on the glass. S: Itís quite oaky to start. More and more chocolate comes out when itís allowed to warm up. My big complaint about the aroma is how perfumey it seems - otherwise, itís not bad. T: Better than the aroma. Oak hits the palate first before chocolate notes subtly appear around the midtaste. The first couple of sips are problematic - they seem to have far too much perfume, but after a few more sips, that note goes away to reveal a really nice, easy-going porter. A slight finish of brown sugar rounds the beer out. M: This one feels pretty light, and dry to boot. While itís not highly carbonated, itís still really easy to drink at the end of the day. O: A good porter that really grew on me the more I drank it. Worth its high price tag? Nah, not really. Worth sampling? Absolutely. If this cut out some of those perfume notes, then it would be out of this world.

Sample at Kurtkeller 019: Choco-tastic 02 on 12/27/2014. The beer pours a brownish-black color with a medium light brown head that diminishes gradually. Patchy lacing on the glass. The aroma consists of chocolate, malt and oak. Medium-bodied with flavors of chocolate syrup, roast malt and coffee. Bourbon is very minimal in the background. The finish is sweet with a chocolate and vanilla aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Bottle from a trade with Trevor. Pours black with a beige head. The aroma is just huge chocolate forward. And it is a very bright and milky chocolate. Also some sweet bourbon, cocoa powder, kinder egg, vanilla and some nutty notes as well. The taste is also huge chocolate forward with some vanilla, weak oaky barrel character, cocoa powder and sweet nuts. Could use some more body due to itís chocolate-forwardness but this was great!

bottle from trade with Trevor. Pours an almost see throughable black with a nice off white head. Aroma has chocolate. Milk chocolate, kinder egg, cocoa powder, vanilla, slight roast. Taste is fairly sweet with lots of oaky vanilla, but again the chocolate is really dominating. Milky cocoa powder chocolate. Hints of roasty bitterness in the end but most of all sweet milk chocolate. Whatís not to like? Semifull body and medium low carbonation.

Fantastic. Really strong caramel/sweet cocoa notes with a year of age on it, reminiscent of Rolo candies. Delicious and easy to drink. Wish it wasnít so pricey.
