Amber brown liquid with hints of bread, cereal, and coffee with a slightly bittersweet herbal finish. There is a bite of alcohol on the swallow- I taste a bit of barrel aged smooth bourbon. There is something else dancing around that dissipates as soon as it affects your tongue sorta tangy esters of raisin with a woody non-smokey finish. Nicely done porter.

Poured from the bottle. Colour is very dark. Aroma is so intensely chocolatey. Flavour is also chocolatey, some nice bitterness from the hops. A very good beer to comemmorate a friend.

Thanks to GatorGuy92 for the share. Cheers, Matt! Pours a dark brown with a tan head. Nose is some light roast, big chocolate, cocoa, and cacao with bourbon, oak, vanilla, wood, and some mild coffee. Flavor is similar- chocolate, some light roast, bourbon, oak, vanilla, caramel, and light cookie and coffee. Medium in body and lingering chocolate-y character on the finish.

This is an interesting beer. Iím not a fan of chocolate in beer but as chocolate beer goes, this is done pretty well. The chocolate is fairly intense and borders on too sweet but is balanced by bitterness which is also intense. Both interact with pronounced flavors from barrel aging for a lively experience which is appealing even if it lacks integration.

S: A ton of chocolate and molasses, possibly a hint of soy, oak, vanilla, and brown sugar the smell screams sweetness. P: Dark with a light brown head. T: Molasses, vanilla and chocolate, a bit of an oak presences with a final finish of toffee. M: Thin with medium carbonation. O: Good and easy to drink, pretty much a light BA Porter.

750 from the Tin Bucket. Pours a pure black color with a medium beige head. A light oak and vanilla nose. The flavor is super sweet vanilla, bourbon, some bitter chocolates, coffee more oak. Quite nice. A slick palate.

Bottle from Wegmans Leesburg - pours pitch with a dark chocolate head. Itís bitter dark chocolate with some oatmeal notes. A little too bitter for me, but itís solid.

Black pour, light tan head, decent lace/retention. Aroma is strong chocolate, lesser notes of bourbon/vanilla, light caramel, light roast. Medium bodied, one dimensional chocolate flavor dominates.

I bought this a while back, and then just couldnít get interested for some reason. I think the white wax annoyed me, I donít know. In any case, I finally was in the mood for something fairly big and chocolatey, and popped it. Wow! Pours a very very dark clear brown. Initial fizzy head surprisingly fades into a lush creamy head. Aroma is of a high quality bittersweet chocolate bar. Amazing. Hint of vanilla too. Just a touch of alcohol. A sniffer for sure. Flavor is more of a rich mix of milk and bittersweet chocolate, with a vanilla and faintly boozy finish. Just a mite thin on the palate, probably because it tries to play porter rather than stout. But still a pleasant surprise, enjoyed this one. Still smelling on it an hour later.
