Bottle. Pours black in color with a tan head. Lots of fresh roasted notes in aroma at first, some cocoa powder and coffee is present quite strongly here. Licorice notes enters later on. Full bodied, quite bitter though. Chocolate and coffee in taste. Slightly burnt vibes later on with some licorice in aftertaste. Bitter and some notes of spicy vanilla in finish.

650ml bottle from Saveur-Biere.

Night black colour with a big tan head. Aroma of a bit burned salty licorice. Flavour of licorice, salty, bitterness. Could be more versatile, now it’s too forgettable.

(Caldera Old Growth Imperial Stout) Bottle 650 ml at home, served into a snifter, ABV 8.8% Totally black pour with two fingers of thick, dark brown head, with very good retention, leaving medium lacing on the glass. Nice aroma, milky chocolate, mocha, some hops. Great taste too, sweet with milky chocolate, mocha, dark chocolate, hops, light vanilla flavour, slightly bitter finish. Not much roasted character but surely enough. Medium body wiith good carbonation, mildly sticky while creamy and smooth texture on the palate. Very nice and for a decent price for an imported bomber.

Almost black pour with a dark beige head. Initially the aromas are pretty roasted but there is a noticable sweet malty, chocolaty quality as well. The mouthfeel is medium to full and carbonation is soft. Flavours of sweet licorice, dark chokolate, roasted malt - the usual suspects. There is a bitterness to theaftertaste that fades away after once the beer brethes for a while. After that, everything gets a litle more rounded and somewhat sweeter. Nice traditional impy..

On tap at the Mellow Fellow in Truckee. Black appearance with a diminishing tan head. Roasted, smooth and creamy with notes of chocolate and light coffee. Medium body with a soft, velvety feel. Good, but served very cold considering the ABV.

Clear very dark brown beer, creamy irregular beige head, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: very roasted, sweet, caramel, very intense, heavy, dried fruits, sugary, some dark chocolate. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very malty, caramel, cocoa powder, roasted, some ripe fruits. Aftertaste: very roasted, coffee, lots of chocolate, hoppy, bitter, mocha, some caramel, slightly sweet, alcohol is noticeable. Lovely beer.

UPDATED: MAR 5, 2015 In a 22oz bottle. Pours thick and rich. Flavors of roasty chocolate, some coffee, fig and faint vanilla. Some raters have found some smoke, but I only find a fwee bit of molasses. Finishes quite dry. Solid.

Flavoursome bursts of rich coffee roast, smoke, burnt wood, Dark chocolate. Exceedingly dry. A noble brew.

Bottle sampled at RBBWG IV. Late at the eve, so notes might be a little shady. Dark brown, no head. Soy sauce, quite hoppy, subtle coffee and lots of malts. I miss chocolate.
