06.09.08 The Moorings Hotel, Benavie, Scotland, Draught. A caramel colored beer, with a very dense and creamy head. It is a very smooth bitter with notes of caramel, almond and slight fruit. It has a nice maltiness about it and it definitely is a gassy ale. Visiting from the United States, I absolutely loved this ale when I tried it and went out of my way to track it down. Very nice and uncomplicated. My personal favorite.

Smooth and refreshing beer. Darker than English bitters (seems like a mild), slightly coffeeish, nice.

Keg @ White Hart, Port Ellen. Red with a tight nitro head. Has a nice toasty aroma and some wortiness as well. Nitro is killing the body. There is nothing wrong with the beer, which is pleasantly malty. Is smooth but unfortunately the nitro kills any complexity that might exist.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 hayduke (2531) - Eureka, California, USA - JUL 3, 2010
At the Ring of Bell’s in Perth, Scotland. This was a dark amber beer, with big creamy off-white head. Medium body and smooth mouthfeel. Good caramel malt flavor and a nice bitter finish. Not complicated but a good session ale. Why do so many people think a beer has to have a nigh alcohol content to be good?
