500ml can. Deep tawny orange-brown beer with minimal tan head (Lovibond 20). Dissipates quickly to good lacing. Aroma is easily identifiable as apricots and figs. Tastes well rounded with fruity vs. hoppy play in equal balance. Finish is soft, slightly bitter. Medium/Low carbonation.

July 2008: Dark brown 500ml bottle, caught just before it went out of date (in three weeks). Poured into my new La Chouffe glass two and a half times. Deep, clear mahogany colour with a good foaming slightly off-white head. Looked good to me. A real chocolate aroma to it and some toasted caramel with a coffee hint too. Rich roasted malt flavour, the chocolate, caramel and coffee in the aroma are not so prominent, but they are present in the taste. This isn’t a creamy thick beer, but nor is it a wishy washy thin one. It is just about right. Impressed, this is good and an ideal winter drinking beer, even at the low 4.1%, it punches well above its alcohol weight.

500ml can pours a pale amber color with a 2 finger creamy white head that settles slowly to leave a thin lacing on the glass. Aroma is light caramel with some grains and a bit of fruit and floral hops. Taste is caramel malty sweetness with a bit of light fruits and a mild hop bitterness. Medium bodied and well carbonated. A little on the sweet side, but still a decent tasting brew.

EithCubes (3340) - GERMANY - MAR 23, 2012
Bottle from Loch Ness, by 30.09.12. Ruby pour with copper hues and a sudsy beige head. Nose of strong caramel and absolutely bursting with fruit. Typical Bitter taste, fruity with some gritty earthy caramel underneath and some nuts toward the end, quenching. Yeast plays a strong role and seems to be driving the thing. Light-medium body, and a good one. Dries out a touch.

50 cl bottle @ home, BBE 30.04.2012
Aroma is sweet and somewhat stale with toffee, goldings hops and nuts. Flavour is sweet with toffee, nuts, and caramel. Palate is rather rich for a 4,1% ABV beer. A bitter with scotch ale feeling.

Has a soft malt & plant aroma. Body is copper-gold with an okay head. Flavour is coffee and nuts, with heavy barley notes. Mouthfeel is weak however. It could be great if the palate was stronger, but instead it’s just good.
