2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Guest tap. Pale-ish black body, thin foamy yellow head, soft tasting, small hints of coffee... not particularly strong. This is a sessionable beer, it’s ok to drink but there isn’t much going on.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is pretty good, but could do with just a hint more coffee. Everything about this beer is very subtle, perhaps a tad too subtle. It’s easy to drink though and I enjoy having it occasionally.

On tap @Edinburgh airport, a dark amber beer with small creamy head. Nose is on roasted grain and coffee. Aroma is expresso like long roasted and chocolate note. Some relative sourness which grows on aftertaste.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Cask @ Bennet’s Bar, Morningside, Edinburgh 160512
Chestnut brown, clear, frothy off white head, good lacing.
Aroma - dark caramel malts, soft coffee, bit of chocolate, no caley ’Deuchars’ malts
Taste - Dark caramel malts, soft light coffee, slight touch of Camp essence, touch of the caley malts but not that noticeable, some soft fruity malts, touch of bitter earthy hops
Palate - soft carb, thin to medium body. Finish as main flavour, slight touch of bitter metal
Overall - One of the better beers from Caledonian

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pint at the Back of Beyond in Reading. Very dark red/brown, with a short lived bubbly head. Pungent malt vinegar aroma. Tastes as expected, but more coffee than chocolate. Somewhat sour and a bit of a chore to drink.
