Almost a completely nutty complexion, and a stout which is full of flavour.

Crosse Keys Spoons. Clear brown beer. Residual tan head. Light dry palate. Okay semi dark malts. Dark toffee. Very mild roast. Plummy fruits underneath. Whisper of sulphur. Dry finish. Not bad, has some flavour.

On cask at Wetherspoon Stansted. Masterpiece, amazing taste. Aromas of caramel, plum, nuts, and hints of smoke. Taste is sweet and bitter, with very long length. Palate is silky, and medium bodied. Dark brown, with a frothy head.

Pint at the Old Manor in Bracknell. Black with a bubbly, creamy head. Chocolate dark malt, with a hint of spice. Some bitterness and a tart aftertaste. Hops come through after the malt. Quite a decent beer. Spiced and hoppy aroma.

Cask-conditioned at the Willow Walk (JDW) 14 October 2011. Dark brown with a tight tan head. Sweet, caramel, milk chocolate and berry fruit aroma. Flavour was also sweet with more chocolate, fruit and camp coffee with a gently bitter finish. Enjoyable.

Cask at the Webb Ellis (JDW), Twickenham. Pours a deep dark mahogany with a lasting tight beige head. Light fruity aroma with hint of coffee and treacle toffee. Rich fruity flavour with plum, pepper, a touch of red wine, green hops, muscovado, and a hint of milk chocolate. Lovely stuff.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading] Strong milk chocolate clavour, but good quality milk chocolate. Greeen leafy hops show through. Very smooth and creamy. This grew on me, it’s definitely one of the better ones at the fest.

sm89walt (1586) - Norwich, Norfolk, ENGLAND - OCT 25, 2011
Cask - The Bell Hotel (JDW), Norwich. Poured a deep ruddy brown with a thick & creamy lasting beige head atop leaving a dense lace. Rich raisin and milky chocolate profile, touches of damson, slightly lactic. Some ashy bitterness in the finish on the tongue. Medium body, soft & creamy mouthfeel, short sweetish mild bitter finish. Didn’t seem anywhere near 6% in terms of ’drinkability’.
