2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask conditioned at a wetherspoons. Hazed gold with slight head. This started off with an odd perfumed note, a mix between butterscotch and boiled sweets. A little on the tart side, flowery, drinkable although not greatly enjoyable.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Hand pulled at the Figure of Eight, Birmingham. A bit of lemon barley, cardboard and some spring water. Fairly dry and a bit refreshing, but I won’t be rushing back. Felt a bit weird in the mouth. Strange.

Cask, William Wygston, Wigston. Golden with a cream head. Aromas are toast malts with lemon zest, yeast and hints of sulphur. Flavours are sweet toast malts with lemon. Yeasty but not really much going on, overall.

Cask @ The Counting House JDW. Strong vegetable aroma. Pale golden colour with a great foamy head. Dry biscuit flavour with a sweet aftertaste. Not getting much fruit here.

2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
[Cask at Monk’s Retreat (JDW), Reading] Rich gold with a moderate white head and a slight fizz. A little lemon (although not as dominant as the name implies it should be), some sweetcorn and a clean if rather cardboardy bitterness. OK refresher, if a little thin.

Back log from Spring of 2011 in Scotland; On tap, poured a golden color with an average head. Aroma and flavor were on the bland side. Some bread and citrus, but a fairly underwhelming beer.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask at Pilgrims Progress (JDW), Bedford, in ’Spoons Beer Festival ’11. old with a white head. Some sweetness in the aroma. I found the taste was just a vague buttery malt with slight bitterness. Thought this was dull. And where was the lemon?

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Light and refreshing despite its poor pale appearance, although there’s no real hints of lemon.

2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cask at the Chequers Inn, JDW, Stourbridge. Pours gold with a small head. Aroma is lemon washing up liquid with some light malt behind. Not much to start with the taste. Thin grassy finish. Certainly not lip smacking.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Cask, JDW, Carlisle. Initial impression is very dry, this mellows slightly and it becomes papery. Lemon is detectable, but minimal. Reckon the term ’fruit beer’ is pushing it a bit!
