Light in color, despite the name. Mellow fruity hops and mildly bitter, clean finish. Average at best.
3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 austinpowers (2827) - New York, New York, USA - JUN 19, 2002
Didn’t think this was actually all that dark, and it had a rather creamy taste. The alcohol isn’t all that well-hidden.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Schroppfy (2328) - Łódż, Warsaw, Poland; Michigan, Ohio, USA - JAN 9, 2002
Bigger body than some Scots. Very fresh, and an oh so typical alcohol warming, but slightly more subtle than in others. In fact, everything here, the maltiness up front, the alcohol, is kinda mellow. The only thing more I can say regarding the refreshing authenticity of this ale is ’Aye, Captain, we need more dilithium crystals...’
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Brent (116) - Bowling Green, Kentucky, USA - SEP 17, 2001
Not as dark in flavor as the name implies. Very mellow, with less malt than common for a Scottish ale. Subdued, fruity hops. Mildly bitter finish, but otherwise clean.
