Flying Scotsman is a sophisticated full flavoured premium bitter beer combining the best barley from the north and robust southern hops. Profoundly malty in aroma but balanced with hints of raisiny spiciness and toasty dryness. Fresh, slightly citrus tang with a rich rounded finish.

Copper amber with a lacy thin white lasting head. Deep smell of caramel malt, plum, figs and light toasted malt. Defiantly smells better than the taste. Medium thin body. Tastes of malt and dried fruit. Slight stale skunky elements, lager cardboard bitterness. Almond and citrus finish. Not really special or good. Disbalanced

Clear amber with scummy head. Round malty aroma; round malty flavor very strong without being too sweet, and with nice hints of grain. Rather dry on the finish. A beer that makes me happy to drink it.

Bottle from B&M, Lichfield. Copper beer with small head. Aroma of malts and toffee. Taste follows suit with a hint of smoke, unintentional maybe. Ok beer.

Bottle. Bronze with a small head .Slightly malty but lacking any really memorable taste. Says on the bottle that this is a premium bottle-who are they trying to kid?

500 ml. bottle @ home. This is apparently the official Flying Scotsman (I had too look that one up) which sounds a bit funny to me because like how many unofficial beers can there beer for a famous train? This is also the first beer that I see that makes an effort to appeal to trainspotters (beer geeks have been speculated to have evolved from trainspotters in the UK). //// Pours a totally clear dark caramel amber with a small but firm off-white head. Nose is cloying with cheap dark honey and toasted raisin bread with butter (not diacetyl, just raisin bread with butter), this is too sticky. Tastes cloying of mild herbs, liquorish, metals, cheap honey, raisin bread, touch watery kvass, bready,… metallic, herbal kvass aftertaste. Fizzy, faintly watery. Acceptable beer but cloying is like one of the weirdest characteristics for a bitter to have, this is supposed to be a mild style that is lower alcohol and easy to drink in large quantities, something that is cloying and tastes like raisin bread with butter and honey.
