Medium creamy offwhite head. Clear brown body. Floral earthy strawy aroma. Dry-sweet dusty strawy caramel taste with wooden grainy notes. Mid-bodied. Mild, soft, flat mouthfeel. Dryish floral dusty strawy aftertaste with roasty grainy notes. Lovely. Subtle, vivid and highly drinkable. (0.284l cask at The Duke of York, Whitby.)

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
My Bottom Line:
Silky caramel malts are balanced out by a leafy hop finish while subtle smoke and spiciness roam giving character to this otherwise classic Brown Bitter.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A ring of foam surrounds the bright amber.
-The spiciness is at times redolent of caraway and rye bread.
-Once youíre past the aroma, there isnít much to keep you interested in finishing your pint.
-The mouthfeel and appearance are very successful.
-This might technically be a Heineken brew, but it remains a standard, well-done cask Bitter, and as such doesnít need to be rated so poorly, imho. At least when itís well taken of, as was the case at The King and Queen the day I had it.
On cask at The King and Queen, Brighton.

Nothing special, must have been particularly in the mood at the time. Poured a clear red. Very little taste, but smooth.

What Dogbomb said, only more so. Not my cup of tea, thought the citrus characteristics clashed badly with the maltiness.

Cask. Bronze ale with a thick offwhite head. Hoppy nose with a little lemon/lime. Light and hoppy in the taste. Nice by a bit boring with a long bitter finish.
