Cask; Regular.
NOTE: This is NOT the same beer as the version of Flying Scotsman previously available as a Spring seasonal.
Launched in July 2011, Flying Scotsman is a new addition to our permanent range of beers. A full-flavoured ruby beer, profoundly malty in aroma and flavours but balanced with a raisiny spiciness and toasty dryness. Distinctive fresh, slightly citrus tang with a rich finish.

Cask conditioned handpump Hind Leicester. A brown beer with a white head and lace. A dry husky beer with coffee notes. Very low hop profile. Grainy coffee. Too husky but certainly drinkable. I’d have it again.

Cask at the Phoenix, Inverness, Scotland.
Clear copper colour with small frothy white head. Floral hoppy and dry woody malty aroma. Flavour is pretty much the same. Caramel sweetness and mild bitterness in aftertaste. Watery.

Cask by handpump at The Wee Howff, Paisley - pours clear copper with a small off-white head, rather bland with no distinctive flavour, not very pleasant

Pint at The Peacock, Mansfield Road, Nottingham. Clear, rich, dark amber with a decent head that left a lovely trail of lacing over my glass on the way down. Mild aroma of chocolate and roasted coffee. Tastes malty and woody with a hint of pencils (seriously) and a short, light bitter finish - perhaps a little too short. OK.

Cask. Copper colour, small off-white head. Aroma is caramel, bitter grassyness along with some nutty, fruity and wooden notes. Flavour is quite similar in a nice balance. Also some slight resiny notes as it warms up a bit.
