3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 jehoey (765) - Shippensburg, USA - OCT 13, 2006
cask at the Maltings, York: Aroma is of floral hops and pale malt. The beer came off the tap with a small white cask head and had a golden transulcent body. Nicely balanced taste, that was heavier on malt, but went more into floral hops in the finish. better than average bitter.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 13, 2011
Sampled this in the Saltcot, Saltcoats (JDW) in October 2006. Pale straw in colour with a slight touch of palest amber. Fragrant dry hopped aroma. Very thin mouthfeel and poor lacing. Typical Caley biscuit malt in the mouth but lacking in complexity and body. No fruit notes but hop resins give a dry hop bite in the aftertaste. Finish is dry with citric notes present. Overall poor considering the ABV, give this one a miss.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 19, 2006
Cask (handump), Penderels Oak (JDW), Holborn, London, October 2006. Golden colour, with a lasting white head. Lively condition, but not too fizzy. Scant aroma, but it was a bit cold. Modest citric notes in the flavour but not a huge amount there really. Dry, clean finish. Nor unpleasant but I would expect a bit more depth from a 4.7% beer.
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Rune (4924) - Tromsø, NORWAY - OCT 18, 2006
Clear golden body. Completely missing head. Light floral hoppy to the nose. Golden beer with mix of citrus and malts. Shades of butter, but otherwise alright with a vague bitterness in the ending. Right beer for an indian summer in late September (Half on gravity at The St Albans Beer Festival 27.09.2006).
2.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 ThomasE (5176) - Copenhagen, DENMARK - OCT 12, 2006
Pale golden colour with a small white head. Malty and caramel sweet aroma with a light hoppy note. Malty, sweet flavor with a vague hoppy finish.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 Gr0ve (1875) - Oslo, NORWAY - OCT 12, 2006
1/2 pint cask, Kenilworth, Edinburgh. Pale golden colour with a somewhat coarse off-white head. Nice soft shortbread-like malt-aroma. Smooth malty flavour with some citrus fruity hops. Somewhat boring after a while.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 duff (5483) - St, Margarets, Greater London, ENGLAND - OCT 10, 2006
Cask@The Market Porter, Borough, London. The name of this beer refers to Colin Montgomerie, the Scottish golfer and i’m guessing it was a special for the Ryder Cup golf. This was sweet and buttery (diacetyl!) and caramelly. Lots of butterscotch. I’m not sure if it was the condition at the pub or the beer is meant to taste like this.
