JDW Rochester. Part of the Wetherspoons Spring Festival. I didn’t like this at all. Couldn’t even finish it. Sweet. Unbalanced. Rancid. Unpleasant. A dreadful beer.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 13, 2011
First tasted this in Coanes, Johnstone in May 1986. Clear rich gold in colour with a thick creamy head. Slight hint of lemony hops in the fragrant aroma. Creamy refreshing mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts deliver a malty base with a floral lemony hop. Aftertaste redolant of hop resins but no astringency in this. Finish is bitter sweet with a lemon citric note. Decent summer session ale.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 hughie (3992) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 11, 2007
Cask at Bankers Draft (JDW), Bedford, Wetherspoons Festival ’07. Hazy gold with a small white head. Buttery malt aroma. The taste is intensely sweet and buttery with berry fruits. Slight bitterness. Interesting, arcane, but ultimately unsuccessful.
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 MesandSim (7109) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - NOV 7, 2007
A Mes rate: Cask at Baker Street ’Sporks. Clean gold with a reasonable white head. Sadly it’s all downhill from there. Diacetyl kills everything that is mildy decent. Slight burnt malt with a hoppy finish but it’s just extremely buttery and close to awful in all honesty.
