Bottled@SBWF2007. Golden colour, small white head. Aroma is hops, malts and quite much grass. Flavour is grass, some hay and very dry.

I think that many of the previous reviewers may have had out of date bottles, hence odd aroma and taste. My bottle was fresh (@ Sergio’s World Beer Bar in Louisville) as it was recently obtained and brought over from the brewer. Pours a hazy dirty orange with a good bubbly white head, big streaks of lace. Yes, the taste is full caramel malt (as are many British session ales), and there is some candied fruit in a mildly hoppy finish, but I could find nothing wrong here. It is a good example of the style, and, as such, I recommend it.
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - MAY 15, 2012
Claims to be the first ever organic beer brewed (back in the 1990’s). Good for Spock and other Vegans I suppose. This 500ml brown bottle had a best before date of 26 Sep 2008, I drank it a month later.
Poured into a Batemans pint glass, it was a golden slightly hazey colour with a good sized white head which slowly faded to a collar and a wispy covering.
The aroma was of flowers and cut grass, very floral indeed.
The beer was spritzy more than fizzy, a twang of citrus fruits in the taste. Unlike most UK brewed beers I’ve had.
Sadly there was something missing, where was the 5% alcohol, where was the bitterness I was expecting and like?
Overall not too bad, it just lacked that bitterness I require in a UK pint.

Bottle pours a murky dark gold with a tiny off white head. Scent is yeast and earth. Taste is same.

Once you get past the dodgy smell upon opening the bottle, which is a bit skunky, it settles into a hoppy fruity smell which reflects on the taste which is very crisp with a smooth aftertaste of fruit with a hint of metal. Plenty of carbonation in this one also. A nice ale. Serve cold.

13th December 2006 Warning! Early amateur rating! Malty and tangy. Moderate carbonation. A bit lagerish overall. Dull.
2.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 maltandhops (48) - Paris, FRANCE - OCT 4, 2010
Golden as expected. Malty aroma and very slightly fruity. Taste is pretty poor with little to say - a bit malty and a bit fruity. Another disapointing organic beer.

Bottle: Aroma is grainy, bready, with some funky hops poking through on the backend. Appearance is a very cloudy orangish/golden with a almost nonexistant white head. Taste has got a nicfe mixture of light malt and slightly funky hops, and maybe some spice notes as well. Palate is medium to low carbonation, mouthfeel is somewhat sweet, and aftertaste of the hops texture. Overall, Decent stuff. I’d drink it again. Cheers!.

Bottle. Pour was light golden with some yeasty fruitiness in the aroma. Body was light, slightly sweet, and thin. Decent bready malt character with no hop character. Decent brew.

Rich honey and hay nose with juniper undertones. Cloudy golden, thin head. Honey and barley flavor, somewhat metallic. Grassy finish, with a tinge of honey. Cask-like mouthfeel. Nicely hopped. Distinctive and enjoyable.
