6th August 2010. GBBF.
Hazy gold beer with no head. Light semi dry palate. Sweetish lime over and even malt base. That’s about it but it’s drinkable and at least they have tried something off the beaten track.

Cask (handpump) at the Great British Beer Festival, Day 4 on 6 August 2010. Braced myself for the blast of diacetyl that has been present in virtually all Caledonian beers I’ve tried in recent times. Wonder of wonders, it wasn’t there. A good start. Things went rather downhill from there though. The aroma is quite grainy with the lime also coming through strongly. Not a winning combination in my book. The taste? Well it tasted like - lager & lime. Which I guess is what they were aiming for. If I wanted a lager & lime I’d order a lager and lime. If I wanted a pissy Mexican bottled beer with a wedge of lime stuffed in the neck, I’d order one. As it happens I don’t want either because I don’t like them. Consequently I didn’t like this too much either. But I guess I’m not really in the target market. Not downright offensive but not to my taste. Not really a Bitter in any recognized sense but it’s tough to know where to put this style-wise.
