Gravity, Reading Beer Festival. Black as sin and smooth as temptation. Fresh and tasty - though more in the mild style than porter. Soft coffee aroma. Soft palate with a licorice and boiled bacon and chewed plastic flavours. Not great. And not really a porter.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 13, 2011
First tasted this at the Paisley Beer Festival in April 1986. Cask, handpump dispense. Black in colour with ruby highlights. Creamy white head. Strong aroma of roast grain and vinous fruit. Thin mouthfeel and good lacing. Dark malt complex gives a maltloaf base of sultanas, figs and maple syrup. Bitter hop resins add some dryness to the short aftertaste. The smooth finish is dry with hints of leather, liquorice and walnut. An excellent session porter.

Cask conditoned - gravity dispense - Peterborough BF. A black coloured porter. The aroma is slightly fudgy, and is on the sweet side with a dusting of chocolate. The taste is also a little chocolatey with some whiskey character. Also some grass late on. Quite different and quite intriguing. Good though!

Its happening all over the place and the sixties have started again. Fills the mouth with some flavour. Like a mild out of control.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 RichardGretton (3759) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - MAY 18, 2003
Standard porter appearance with a mildly hopped aroma and a burn't/fruity flavour. A good pleasant porter, bitter but not overly.

Dark almost purple in colour. This has a hot chocolate like smoothness. Flavours are earthy and quite sweet, followed by some fruitiness. Too light in character to be great.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 nigos (623) - Sheffield, South Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAY 1, 2003
Black hue with light brown head a very good lacing. Coffee and toasted malt aroma. Treacle, brown sugar, coffee and toasty malty flavours. A reasonable porter.

Very good porter. Definite biscuity flavour, good rounded maltiness. A good intro to the style.

Great Porter, full complex flavour very malty with a good hop balance and a good level of bitterness from the roasted barley. I love this stuff!
