3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Fin (5749) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, - SEP 2, 2007
Cask, gravity at The Rock of Gibraltar Beer Festival, Enslow, Oxon, 01-09-07 Poured amber in colour with tiny white frothy head, served a bit too warm in my opinion, beers were served inside the pub on racks with no effort to keep cool. A fruity, hoppy beer that managed to hold up better at being served too warm than some of the others.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 tombyars (1102) - Saltcoats, SCOTLAND - OCT 14, 2011
Tasted this at the James Watt, Greenock (JDW) in August 2007. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear copper red in colour with a thin white creamy head. Distinctive Caley toffee aroma. Thin mouthfeel with good lacing. Pale malts give a maltloaf base with sweet winegum fruit notes and a spicy coriander flavour in the mouth. Woody redcurrant fruit adds dryness to the short bitter resins in the aftertaste. Finish is spicy with mulled wine notes and a herbal quality. An interesting ale and fairly decent as a new brew.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 KyotoLefty (3752) - Kyoto, JAPAN - MAR 20, 2010
Cask at the Guildford Arms, Edinburgh (August, 2007). Dark amber color. Sweet, strong, aroma with honey, spices, and…ginger. Sweet flavor of honey and fruit, with ginger (added for sure). Good enough, but not well balanced. Too sweet and spicy, with too much ginger.

Floral slightly sweet aroma. Bronze coloured slightly rich on the palate and sweet with a crisp and slightly bitter dry malt finish.

Cask at Bon Accord, Glasgow. A dark amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet with primary notes of caramel, but also a slight buttery note. The flavor has notes of spices, malt, and caramel - some weird spice.

1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 Mungo (2472) - Southampton, Hampshire, ENGLAND - SEP 29, 2007
Cask conditioned @ Humble Plumb, Soton. Unpleasantly sweet toffee (hint of diacetyl) with some phenolic spice flavours. Watery body. Very poor.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Svesse (4389) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - SEP 12, 2007
(Cask at Wenlock Arms, London, 11 Aug 2007) Dark brown colour with reddish tinges, brief off-white head. Malty nose with very spicy, bitter-sweet notes of something (sweet gale would be my guess). Malty, spicy taste with an earthy , spicy, bitter-sweet finish. Interesting and very spicy beer. But to be honest, John Rebus would go for the IPA (and so would I).
