Cask conditioned - handpump - Wetherspoons Milton Keynes A copper coloured beer with a nice white head. The aroma is full of diacetyl with just the merest hint of peat. The taste has some smoke but far, far too much diacetyl. Typical Caley let down.

3rd November 2008. Clear amber beer, very thin head. Low carbonation. Peaty smokey start that is unapologetic but not overwhelming. Blends in to a tangy malt well joined up with a pleasant fruity undertone. Finish is dry and smokey. Not noticed any bittering hops.

Cask Handpump at the Penny Black JDW, Northwich 06/11/2008 Some floral aroma. Copper coloured smooth on the palate and a little fruity with a hint of bitterness in a crisp and slightly smoked malt finish.

Cask at The Railway in Putney during "Spoons Fest in a Day" crawl, 2nd Nov 08. Smoked malt aroma and flavour. Not as good as a German rauchbier but not bad. Lots of malt but a bit watery light amber in appearance. Could do with more hops.

Cask in the cross keys and the new crown. Alround rating: Caramel caledonian beer, wouldnt know theres any peated malt unless told so, not much hop character. Perhaps cali 80 with something added?

Cask Conditioned at J.D. Wetherspoon - Shakespear´s Head, London
Beautiful copper color; creamy head. It has a nice toffee aroma. The body is light, with a pleasant toffee flavor, smooth mouthfeel, some residual sweetness; the final is too weak, and not much bitter, but delicate. Pleasant.

Pints at Hinckley Spoons. Gold amber with rings of lace. Milky soft nitro creaminess. Genuine dab of Bamberg. Cleanly smoky and vanilla sweet. Hints of apple fruit, sultana, oak, maybe oats. Tires over a pint. Needs a spike of something other than smoke, but still pretty decent.

Half pint, cask hand pulled and served a bit too cold at Doctors in Edinburgh. Clear copper-red body. No head at all. Mild smell of dried fruit and peaty malt. Some leafy hops in flavour and weak hints of roasted malts. A bit disappointing as I had expected more [24.10.2008].

[Cask at Wetherspoons, Milton Keynes] A smooth, easy drinking bitter with a comforting hint of smoke in the tail. Works well.
